Thanks for the comments guys, we sling our own !!!! as well.As for jobs at Dublin those far sighted buckets of crap that infest head office think were over staffed in Dub and are looking to send staff to the west.So far through VER'S ,transfers and promotions we lost 13 controllers in the last month(no more plllllllease we need time off).We shall try to keep up the good(ha)standard of work next month when the flow control is lifted.

I thought your chaps had dumped a load of trainees some months ago, seem to recall there was quite a stink! Was it short-sighted? The close harmony between IAA and NATS seems to produce the same results on both sides of the water. By the way, the introduction of the new Shannon Centre has seen a most dramatic reduction in customer service delivery since Swanwick have been forbidden to offer direct routes to Oceanic Entry Points; by having to remain on the Upper Air Route we are often unable to allocate optimum levels, to say nothing of traffic-bunching and label overlap. [we do understand why.....I think the system must be related to ours].

Nice to see so many rally to DUB's defence!
Chargreen, has there been an improvement in the situation overall last couple of days? Would certainly seem that way to me, but your obviously in a better position to inform ;-)
Best of luck with the changes by the way..

So any news on the progress of the changeover to the new system? Is it making any positive difference in terms of reduce workload and RT volumes?
The new ATIS (computerised voice) gives off the impression you've got a few yanks up in that tower!

Dont knock Dub ATC
I must say Dublin ATC do a really good job.Especially in the last 2 years with getting the new system on line there.Anybody who trys to put them down either has thier head up thier own a*s or thier head up the captains a*e.
With regards to the guys asking about getting into the Iaa Student Controller Programme..........
Its a good job that pays ok.Most controllers in the Iaa are sound and a good bunch to hit the town with.(which happens a bit!)
On a sobering thought though you would be working for the Iaa. Not renowned for treatment of staff especially SCP.Look what happened to SCP 6.If you dont know,do yourself a favour and find out before you even think about applying. There are lots of posts regarding the issue on this website.

I think Dublin ATC gets a bad rap and as does a good job under the circumstances. As far as I can see, the ATCO's are up against one very major problem, inadequate infrastructure.
DUB suffers from a serious lack of tarmac, a crazy taxiway layout, lack of stands etc.
Maybe some procedures are a bit slow too, for example why the long separation between departures. In CDG, you get released as soon as the preceeding lifts his nosewheels. And not just when the preceeding is a faster aircraft (that said, take note Dublin, in a 146 we will NOT catch the preceeding!!).
Also, they could be a lot slicker lining up traffic after landings. Why not issue the standard line up after the landing clearence instead of, as is much more common, waiting until the landing is vacating before issuing the line-up clearence?
However, all in all, as professional a bunch as anywhere else. Certainly streets ahead of anything French/Italian/Spanish.
