When i applied in August 2000 it was a relatively short time to stat the course.

I applied in 2000 and started in 2001, after I deferred my start date by 3 months due to prior commitments.

I know that there was a back log of students at the college then, as my course and several others after mine suffered greatly with students holding for places on the Area courses. This I believed caused a backlog in granting start dates to succesful applicants - maybe this is the reason for the delay in you getting start dates and the reason that the process seems to be speeding up now as the college is running smoothly again

be patient the wait is all worthwhile and a great carreer awaits

I'm not joking sir....I apologise if you felt i was having a dig at you this was not my intention.

I was just thinking that you maybe got to medical quicker as you are (were?) currently a NATS employee.

Everyone gets through selection on merit and i really didn't mean to imply anything!

Apologies once again if you took my comment in the wrong way

Thanks tired-flyboy but there's no need to apologise - it wasn't your comment I reacted to.

Very decent of you to do so anyway.

All of us who have passed the selection process fully deserve our place at the college - whenever we eventually get there - so I resent any suggestion otherwise.

As I say - certainly not aimed at you.

Hi,

I applied in March '04. Had the selection day in May '04, passed the tests and have now got the interview in September '04. If i get in, does any one have any idea as to when the course is likely to start ? When i applied i was told that NATS were looking to recuit people for courses starting in March '05 but after reading through the forum i get the feeling that i may have to wait a lot longer if i do get through ! Any thoughts ?

As a general rule, it looks like you will have to wait for a year after your scheduled interview date, so I guess you will be looking at Sept 05 but obviously this could change. As you can see from previous comments, if ATSA's are being guaranteed a course at the ATC College due to the introduction of electronic fight progress strips, then this date may be further delayed!!

But hey, i'd wait forever for it, and time seems to be flying by, so hopefully not long to my course start date!

Also, remember one thing at a time, youve got to pass you interview yet!!

GOOD LUCK

mps12:

You must be enjoying your course of study either that you've got a great job.

The wait is killing me (not literally) but luckily i've got a dissertation to write, a job to find to pay the bills and....and....and.....

As they say all good things come to those who wait....

Still waiting......

FAO Im not joking Sir

Firstly I want to hold my hands up and apologise to Im not Joking Sir, I must have clearly missed that part of the thread, probably because i was reading it all quickly since i should have been working on my project!!!! I appreciate that the statement regarding 'guaranteed' must annoy you since you clearly went through the whole selection just like everybody else and have won your place on merit - so, Im sorry for that accidental emmsision and of course well done for getting through!

There was no intention for me to undermine your efforts, I just read a previous thread about the EPS and just included those thoughts! I hope thats cleared up, cos I may end up being on the same course as you!!

Tired-flyboy

Well yes I do enjoy my course but it finishes in 2 weeks, and I havent got a job planned yet in between now and the course start date, a spot of travelling wouldnt go a miss but I dont think the olde student bank account can stretch that far at the moment!!!!!

Don't worry, it's just the same if you're working for NATS. HR are about as effective as a catflap in an elephant house. I had an assessment over a year ago for a promotion, and I'm still waiting for feedback from HR and / or the unit involved.
