Transfer to Stansted ATC

As someone considering the possibility of an internal transfer to Stansted as an ATCO, does anyone know if there's a waiting list to get in? If so, how long is the wait?

Finally, what's it like to work there? People OK? etc, etc.

Feel free to reply with a private message!

Sorry mate, far too many external candidates too be considered before they'll even look at internal ones.....

Anyone know who the ATSM is these days? Just asking out of curiousity, like you do......

Well Stansted is getting busier although now winters here and the movements have dropped to 550 a day it does feel quiet. We have Electronic Flight Progress Strips (EFPS) arriving in April, a new SMR display, New lighting panel and a refitted tower in the not too distant future. New alternative runway being built over the next 2 years with the associated carnage on Ground so basically it's all happening here :- ATCO burnout. Why would anyone want to come here at the moment. BTW the natives are friendly, the view is great and it can be good fun..............

Great place to work but as everywhere in NATS it has its moments of madness!! Not likely to be any spare places until 2005 but watch this space.

Now what's this I hear about a "partner exchange programme"? I feel we should be told.

Terrain safe.............

sounds like u work up in the big tall tower at STN

do they ever allow tours of the tower and radar facility

am from south africa and just joined a low cost carrier parking on the Delta and Charlie apron and was wanting to get a bit more familier with how things are done and whats expected re ATC rather than just blundering along.
