Excel Airways have filed an official application to base four foreign registered and crewed Boeing 767's at UK airports from 1st May for the entire season. Excel fly only 737's and have no wide bodied aircraft of their own at all.

UK airlines have made hundreds of flight crew redundant over the last few months and grounded at least 30 aircraft of various types.

Having seen the enormous protest when there was talk of Air 2000 filling a much smaller and shorter commitment in Canada, how come there isn't more fuss over this?

To register a protest, write to; PW Stanton, K4 Gate 8, Civil Aviation Authority, CAA House, 45-49 Kingsway, London WC2B

OR to your MP; House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA

That'll be Air Atlanta again. Putting aside whether or not one likes the idea, I understand that due to the relationship between the EU and Iceland, it is legal (within the EU anyway). Before the abuse starts about unemployed pilots etc (for whom I have the greatest sympathy), I'm just stating the facts as I believe them to be.
