Hi all,

I have heard off the grapevine that Easyjet is in discussion with Flybe regarding a take-over (Easyjet taking over Flybe).
Does anybody know if there is any truth to this rumour?

Thanks.

Why would eJ be remotely interested in an airline whose largest aircraft is a 146 and has many smaller than that? Doesn't fit anywhere near the eJ business model.

I think the fit would work quite well. Flybe operate from a number of "feeder" airports that ezy would never go near, it would though break the "one type" model, but the current management at ezy have already done that !

I dont really think so as we have just announced today, an order for 17 more Dash Q400's. Not the sort of action to take if you are in any kind of take over deal.

I would be checking six very often if I was at Flybe and I felt there was any substance to this rumour.

I remember in mid Jan the Irish press ran a story Ryanair was going to take over Buzz. Ryanair issued a press release denying it and KLM said it was not in discussion with Ryanair but was seeking a partner to risk share Buzz with. We all know what followed a week later.......

However I cannot for the life of me see why eJ would want to be Flybe, or why Walker Aviation would want to sell it. So this rumour I feel is b&*%ocks

Well Jim French said just this morning that the plan is for the current shareholders to exit the game as soon as Flybe is on its feet again.

Yep,

The short term plan 'next 2 years' is either a take over or float on the stock market and that's from the horses mouth.:yuk:
I too am not sure what Easy would want with some old 146's and Dash's BUT...... It's the same old story - Why did BA buy Dan-air for a pound and take on all it's debt ? Why did Ryan buy Buzz considering it was making a loss ? Answer = ROUTES...... the life blood of any airline. :hmm:

Interesting though that eJ decided not to go ahead with Deutshce BA purchase, maybe the are going to use the money elsewhere - ie Flybe. Maybe it was because competition on German low cost sector is hotting up with Germanwings and Air Berlin etc etc. Who knows....

As someone who got made redundant in the Buzz mess my advice to you all at Flybe is TRUST NOBODY.

But I really dont think you have anything to worry about. Easy are still having great problems integrating Go, not about to open another similar can of worms methinks.

Lets hope the take-over doesn't take place for now at least, so those low-hour pilots like myself still have the chance of getting in before CTC takes hold of recruitment of every airline in the country.

I do like the sound of more Q400s.

Here's hoping.
