Today Swedish newsmedia revealed that Ryanair only pays 1/3(or less) of landingfees etc. than other airlines at Swedish airports. This unfair competition is under investigation at swedish authorities.
why are they in trouble than...if this is what they negotiated...

If Swedish consumers BENEFIT from Ryanair's presence in the Market via lower prices, and the landing fees were in fact negotiated to attract Ryanair, then I don't see much of a problem. . .. .SAS has had a lock on the market for years........ It's time to get some competition in there. Increased competition will always benefit the consumer. I guess that Socialists have a hard time figuring that out......................... .. .Peace Out

If SAS go back to the negotiating table and get a better deal than Ryanair you can bet your life Ryanair will be screaming foul. Do Ryanair even fly to anywhere SAS do. If Ryanair negotiate a better deal for ground handling and "catering" etc. then fair enough but I don't see why other airlines should pay higher LANDING fees which could appear to be subsidising Ryanairs op.
Mainfrog, you´re absolutely correct.. .. .Lawdump, it appears that Vaesteraas (ESOW) outside Stockholm has let in Ryanair for much lower landing and pax. handlingfees than they charge SAS and Skyways. The problem with that is, that it is illegal like he**, since that airport,ESOW, (together with some other airports around Europe that SAS and the competition boards are starting to look at) are government (state and local) owned. As such, they use taxpayer money to subsidise Ryanair and make SAS and Skyways and the taxpayers pay for it.. .In EU law, an airport is regarded as a monopoly, and as such shall allow all airlines the chance of equal fees.. .ESOW refuses to let SAS and Skyways see a comparison of prices at ESOW,which is also illegal, and a case has now been filed with the competition board. Look for FR to start paying a lot more in the future if they want to fly there.. .Yes, SAS had a monopoly in the old days and deserves competition. But competition on equal terms. That has nothing to do with socialism.
Hmmm, looks like RyanAir is doing "something" right. More power to 'em. The wave of the future guys....wake up! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> . .Now some in their ivory towers will not like these developments...tough beans.
Well, sure they are. They are making big dough. . .They are, as far as I can see, not on the wrong side here. The airport is.. .And tough s*** that is, but it´ll hurt Ryanair.
