It was done exactly as portrayed. The house in the film is about 60 miles from Cambridge and everything was piped down there.
It could have all been done synthetically and with CG, but the director was adamant that everything was real.

If you listen carefully the aircraft contacts "Air Serbia Ops" and "runway 23 is available" not cleared to land etc. Not quite contact with ATC.....

Actually they call themselves "Air Suburbia Ops". The phraseology had to be removed enough from genuine ATC phraseology to satisfy the CAA that there could be no confusion on the flight deck as to the source of ATC comms v film comms.

But the phrase 'runway 23 is available' could be used by an Air/Ground radio operator in the UK, hence Busters remark above about needing ROCCs (Radio Operators Certificate of Competence)

Might have been just the autopilot; an A320 type is fully capable of flying an approach to any runway if programmed to do so; doesn't need an ILS or any other ground based aid.
I've watched it done several times at Farnborough first in an A321 and later in an A320 and I had no ILS (hadn't yet been installed), I just monitored the approach using PAR and can verify each approach was stable and accurate..
