Ok guys, this is a weird one and just seeing if anyone has had it or seen it?

A-320 CEO.

Landed today after disengaging the AP at 600’. 8kt crosswind on a 1900m runway.

After touchdown, while keeping straight noticed the rudder peddles hard, looked over at the F/O’s feet to see if he was riding the rudder with me but he wasn’t. A/C tracked well and I noticed ‘Rollout’ engaged in green on FMA’s. Through 70, as I stowed reversers, Rollout disappeared and rudders became soft (normal).

It has me stumped!

how could this be possible?

To clarify, it felt as though the auto-pilot was doing the work maintaining the runway centreline. Rudder was hard. Even though the AP was disconnected, rollout mode was engaged and holding the centreline. I think there has been some sort of weird malfunction though no ECAM or failure maintenance message.

Hopefully you wrote it up in the tech log.

Absolutely, being investigated now. Just heard it has happened to another A320. Could be a software fault. Be careful out there!

Don’t know the answer to this one, but just out of interest, presumably there was an ILS tuned and did you deselect the F/Ds after disconnecting the A/P?

What FMGS software version? MSN of the bird? (just the range is enough)

Yes ILS and approach loaded which auto tunes. Just disconnect the AP but left the FD's on which is just the way we do it. It's just so weird.

Unfortunately I'm on annual leave for a few weeks but I'll look next time. I'm guessing it'll be the latest.

Odd one, wondered has it happened before in that particular aircraft?
