I know you may think it's sad but I'm a babe who has a keen interest in aircraft. Can anyone tell me what a 143 is? Thanks a lot.

It's probably something screwy like a 146-300, if such a thing exists. Where have you heard it? On the R/T? At many airfields pilots have to advise ATC of their a/c type (because airlines sometimes swap types at the last minute without telling anyone!). Pilots tend to use the abbreviations which we use... but they're getting so complex I can't recall exactly what a 143 might be! We get BA-146's called RJ.. something, which throws me for a complete curve! "744" is a 747-400 for example.

GB and HD
A 143 is a BAe146/300 Operated by [amongst others] Aer Lingus. A 141 is a 100 seies {Manx, as was, GMABR, is one I think] Zap [Titan Airlines] operate the 200 series
