I had to do a double-take and check the date when I received the email below.
As you will see, unfortunately for the majority of readers here, it's an NZ CAA proposal, but it's very nice to such a positive approach to Class G airspace. I bolded two key phrases.

Airways NZ and the Tauranga Tower team would like to invite you to an airspace users meeting to present a proposed airspace redesign of the TG CTR/D.
Venue: Tauranga Aero Club
224 Aerodrome Road
Tauranga Airport
Time: Tuesday 17th March 1800L
Purpose: In conjunction with CAA’s drive to reduce the size of aerodrome control zones and relinquish controlled airspace back to airspace users as class G airspaces, Airways would like to gain support and feedback for a proposed redesign of the TG CTR/D. This process will be occurring around the country at all controlled aerodromes with the Tauranga Airspace users taking the leading steps
A reduction in controlled airspace has been identified as an important step in ensuring uncontrolled airspace is closer and more accessible to users, will provide improved VFR arrival and departure procedures that allow track segregation, reduction in risk associated with operations away from the RWY and vicinity and thereby a greater focus on these operations, less complexity for local operators and improvement in safety and risk management for airport, customers and Airways.
Importance: This airspace redesign will have an effect on the way the TG CTR/D is currently being used. A smaller, fit for purpose CTR will allow greater flexibility for operators outside the vicinity of the aerodrome, but will have require some changes to current operations.The cynic in me wonders about the last sentence. I'll just have to wait and see.
