Not a common gear arrangement, but the tail-mounted camera gives an idea on the flare.
Unfortunately it also gives an idea why sideways landings are not good for the main gear!

GoPro suction cupped
If you haven't seen a suction cup, it should look like this:

Hi,
how did you attach the GoPro?
Basically how rnzoli said, using the standard suction cup that GoPro sell (its quite big, and sticks pretty well to anything flat!). It was stuck to the inside of the rear windows. Sadly couldn't mount it outside as I don't have a CAA/EASA approved mount.

I popped back to the site of my first solo landaway, with a trip from Sywell to Retford-Gamston. I also managed to get a zone transit through East Midlands airspace, along the VFR lane. As the 'field' where I learnt at, it seemed strange to cross the runway extended centreline!
Just as a joined Gamston's overhead, another Cessna 172 joined, with the same abbreviated callsign, this surprised the controller as much as everyone else!
I've overlaid the track of both flights from SkyDemon onto the video, enjoy :)

On a recent trip from Sywell to Gloucestershire airport (first visit!), I decided to do a bit of sightseeing around southwest Wales, between the Severn and the Brecon Beacons - have a look in the second video!
Gloucestershire cleared me for a straight in approach... personally I don't like these! It also felt a bit concerning having to fly over Cheltenham at relatively low level, without an awful lot of options. Still, an interesting airport to visit and a nice tour of South Wales - would have ventured over the Brecons more if the cloud was higher!

"December is an unfavourable month for longer visual (VFR) cross-country flights. THere are only 8 and a half daylight hours, meaning dark hours are nearly twice longer. The air is still humid, VFR flights are made impossible or unsafe by fog or freezing fog during anticyclones, strong winds or snow/icy rain in fronts. After several cancellations however, the meteorological, technical and human conditions were right for such a cross-country flight and I took the chance. Due to the early sunset I had to request extended opening hours and runway lighting at my destination aerodrome. During the arrival, the onboard camera took beautiful night shots. "

Seasons Greetings! I've not done many landaways recently, so here's a recent video of a local flight hopping around some of the many disused airfields in the Midlands, departing from and returning to Sywell Aerodrome. Perks of flying at this time of year have to be flying around sunset!
As a side note, Runway 05 at Sywell is really difficult to see on final when the white marks have all been washed away!

My SEP CR expired a bit over a year ago. No problem. I'm glider and FAA ASEL and IFR current, so flying regularly. However, it may be silly, but I like it on those occasions when all of my various bits of paper are all current/legal. EASA permits expanding an aerobatic rating from a glider to airplane or vice versa with three training flights. This video is from the third of those three flights. It's a compilation of three cameras' video edited down to a short and I hope pleasant video:

I took a Cessna 172 from Sywell to Old Buckenham recently - first visit there. A really nice airfield, despite me being caught out by the narrow runway on the first approach, then being caught out by the C172's ability to float like a balloon and the sloping runway on the second approach...!
Sadly I forgot to turn the camera on for the return leg.
Definitely an airfield worth visiting, although due to a delayed departure the cafe had shut by the time I got there.

I've had my licence for over 5 years, but recently I decided to actually fly into the airfield where I caught the bug - Andrewsfield in Essex - some 15 years ago.
From Sywell, the easiest route is direct through Stansted's CTR, so I thought i'd give this a go! Essex radar were very helpful and managed to slot me in crossing the landing threshold just behind a Ryanair. No such luck on the return flight, 20mins after the initial request and 10mins orbiting outside airspace and I had to call it quits and take my planned diversion route.
A very pleasant airfield to visit, with a great restaurant. I'd thoroughly recommend a visit before it gets turned into houses!
Below are a couple of videos of my outbound and return flights between Sywell and Andrewsfield, with the GPS trace of each flight overlaid from Skydemon.

Today, I had one of the most interesting flights in my flying career. I was flying out of Black Diamond/Cu Nim (CEH2) in Alberta.
I took up the father of two of our youngest students for his first glider flight. It wasn't planned and the conditions didn't look promising, but our high-performance two-seater, the DG1000S, was available so we launched.
We released at 2000' above ground and flew around for a while and were at 1000', preparing to enter the circuit, when we entered a strong thermal which allowed us to gain 3000'. This height (7700' ASL) allowed me to demonstrate the high-speed performance of the DG1000S and before descending, we moved upwind to get away from a rain shower that was passing over the field. At was at this point, we saw the most remarkable double-rainbow, below us!
Rainbow picture and video by Bart, my passenger.

Sports airfield, LJBL Bled, Slovenia. Good destination in the wintertime as well (paved runway, taxiway).

A nice, well-produced video about a lovely grass field just east of Calgary. I’ve never been there, but it feels as if I know it, because it’s about 20 miles from my gliding club and we share the same traffic frequency. :)

Tough crowd here. I'm at 32.7 hours out of the required 40 for my phase 1 flight test.

Just over a year ago, I had my third dual trip with an instructor friend in his Christen Eagle II. After doing some aerobatics and inverted flying, I did a three-turn spin and then I asked my instructor to do one while I filmed it. Great fun.

During the debrief, I noticed the G meter recording needles showing +7 and -3.
I said “I didn’t think we pulled that much!”
My instructor said “Adrenaline will do that to you!”
Nice. I did my aerobatics in an S2A and like the Eagle it both spins well and exits the spin in a heartbeat. I don't recall that many Gs in a spin. My chute comes next month and I can start doing aerobatics in the Waiex. Positive G fun stuff, it's not the same class as the Eagle or Pitts.
Thank you Saab Dastard for your comment.

IFMU,
It was the maneuvers before the spins that led to the G readings. :E
The spins are relaxed by comparison although the rotation rate is quite fast compared to the gliders I usually spin. :)

That makes more sense! Wow, I've never pulled more than 6. The guys flying Sonex aerobatics are pulling 3-4 typically. It's rated +6/-3 at aerobatic weight.

I think those readings were brief instantaneous G forces. I wasn’t looking at the meter during my aeros, but my seat-of-the-pants G meter registered 5-6. 😄
I see the limits are +9 and -6 - well beyond my tolerance at my advanced age!
Here is my son's first flight in the airplane he spent 600+ hours building with me. Poor lighting, and the only audio is engine noise, but that smile on first takeoff makes it all worth it.

Brilliant!
It must be an awesome feeling to go flying in an aircraft you have built yourself.

Don't think we have any flying in the UK, just a few Sonerais.

From the Sonex builder database, it seems there are 7 Sonex flying in England and as many under construction.

It is a great little aircraft - cheap to build and operate. Fun to fly. The Y-tail Waiex flies the same as the heathen conventional tail Sonex, but the Waiex is about 20% cooler.
First time flying today in a long time. We put in a new oil pump with a pressure relief cover and eliminated the filter. The flaps were re-rigged and are good - the airplane trims up pretty stable hands off. Maybe a very slight right turn. Before when I had it hands off there was a big gap between the flap and the wing trailing edge and that has been fixed. We left our phase 1 flight test area for the first time and gave Adam his first landings away from home base. This is DeKalb, IL where Adam goes to college at NIU.

Hello! I'm Tuomo, a private pilot based in GA. I've been on these forums since 2008 under a different username. Got my private in 2007. About a year ago started actively posting videos. The latest took us to St Simons Island.

When I selected the 80 HP Aerovee to power the Sonex Waiex I built with my son, I really had two goals in mind:
Economics. Cheap to buy, build, operate, maintain, and overhaul.
Low performance for takeoff - good for learning.
The Waiex performs great with the Aerovee. It is basically a 2180CC VW bug motor. At light weights it climbs well, though it is no super cub. My thinking on the low takeoff performance is that if you learn in a super cub, no runway will ever seem too short and you don't have to do a great job to get off the ground and over the obstacles. Here is a high weight takeoff with a recently borrowed cruise prop. I am pretty happy with my son's airmanship and his learning progress.

In cruise we are turning 100kts at 4 gallons/hour. In the pattern we burn about 2 gallons per hour.
I did all my acro training something like 25 years or more ago, mostly in an S2A. I had one lesson in a Decathlon too. I got my chute last February and today time and weather finally lined up for me to start exploring the envelope of the Waiex. Before I dove into it, I warmed up with some steep turns and big stalls. Then onto spins. Next time out I'll give loops a go. Also I'll go for more turns in the spins.

Here's a short Wisconsin Passport mission video. My son flew to this airport solo. There are some short grass strips that we will need to do solo, in the winter, and with favorable winds. The 80HP Aerovee is not the short takeoff champion!

Hi.
How do you get an overlay for the videos like this one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xRg3wdecps
Im enrolling to a course with EASA Aerobatic Flight Training - Hungary - Easy Pilot - Easy Pilot (easy-pilot.com) (https://www.easy-pilot.com/aerobatics)
I know its probably pushing it, but is it possible to have the overlay in feet and knots instead of metric?
Thanks!

The GoPro cameras have GPS sensors ect. So those speeds are all groundspeeds. There is a software package that allows you to take the encoded data and put it on your video. This is my son's video, I'll have to ask him what the software package is.
https://youtu.be/IdLk2tpew4k?si=uvL9bzz6yFb9pUDF
On one of his videos he says "The overlay is done with the GoPro telemetry extractor software."
