Evening all,

I had a JAR PPL which I've now switched over to an EASA PPL, did I need to get my tailwheel rating put on the licence like you need your tow plane rating/TMG and night rating are put on it? Or is the signature in the log book all you need for the tailwheel?

Thanks,

Signature in the logbook is enough. It's not an actual rating as such, just something for which differences training is required.

Differences training for tailwheel is entered in your logbook and is not a rating in itself, although it forms part of the relevant class rating.

FCL.710:

The differences training shall be entered in the pilot’s logbook or equivalent record and signed by the instructor as appropriate.

Or, CAP 804, Section 4, Part H, Subpart 1, page 2 if you prefer the CAA website:

Differences training | Private Pilots | Personal Licences and Training (http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=2694&pageid=15206)
