I currently work at Houston ARTCC, but have 3 tower ratings as well. Was curious about the chances/process of getting picked up to control abroad somewhere. Not contracting out in the desert but in Europe, Australia , Canada etc. I'm not sure how the NAS vs ICAO works. Any info would be appreciated.

Canada...there is no longer a program for experienced controllers. You have to basically move here, gain residency and then apply to Nav Canada.

I've heard an ex-American from OMA controlling traffic in Bordeaux Control and one on the radio enroute to Las Palms, so they are out there. Most likely married a local to gain residency.

Residency IS gained through marriage. However when I moved the other way my experience was useless as CITIZENSHIP is required of the US to work in ATC . I wasn't even allowed to vist NASA in Cleveland until I got my green card :)
