I actually came on here trying to find out a bit MORE about this accident which happened last weekend. Was surprised to see it has not been posted here at all. Fortunately no serious injuries, but the aircraft (C 172 G-BITM) will surely be a write-off. Understand sudden engine failure ; relatively low because in the Low-Level Corridor.

The aircraft appears in the Barton movements for that day - presumably this accident occurred shortly after departure?

Crikey. looks like a nice big field. Wonder what went wrong with the forced landing?

Any landing you can walk away from...? Actually the starboard wing looks as if it hit a post from the indentation in the leading edge.

A little bit more complex than you are guessing and the landing didn't quite go as planned. However they walked away with minor injuries, in my book that's a fecking BIG WELL DONE to the pilot. That's what insurance is for.

The aircraft is based at Barton and was returning from Leicester.

This happened in the Low-Level corridor, where they might have been listening out on 118.57 (with listening squawk of 7366 on).
