Just wondering if PR agencies for Boeing have been doing their job in 'hiding' actual experiences and delays on the 787 recently?
I can only say from a pax experience (retired Skipper) that after about 8 'journeys' now on the 787 my views/experiences are mixed.
What on earth is that 'electrical' gearbox of some sort issue ongoing (high pitched 'squealing sound') when I walk through appox. wing section and continues all flight. All I can say is perhaps 'lucky' not to be sat in that situ. What is that all about...any engineering input, perhaps? Deffo something needs sorted there based on my several flights (8) so far on various operators...like a whining 'scream' (wing box area). It's at an amplitude that travels quite far (or maybe my hearing aid?...joke!).
Also, I've not noticed this supposed 'lower altitude' and better humidity that Boeing purports to......anyone else noticed it is better? To me...the comfy premium seats help...but not noticed health benefits. Bigger windows are 'nice' however....is it just a 'gadget' these darkening windows? It's much quicker to just close a window blind, IMHO.
OK, I've only had 8 sectors of experience on this as retired Capt....as pax....anyone enthused about this airplane from flightdeck to pax. As pax, I'm not very plussed about it. Perhaps I'm lame and, were it possible, most operators just have Biz class as premium...no First Class...so no upgrades going. Boo hoo...
All I can say is that there are very few who operate a 'proper' First Class these days (grinding my axe here...hehehe). B.A. is bloody awful...looks good in a brochure perhaps...food packet pasta and Dolmio sauce and bad crew attitude sometimes. Mrats...aka Emirates...getting tired product and very congested delays at Dubai. Oh, I'm off track now...this thread was supposed to be about the new 'dreamliner'...yawn yawn...anyone got a good word to share about screamliner/binliner? heheheh.
