So, I have a (share in a) vintage aeroplane: a 1947 Stinson Voyager, fun, nice to look at, much loved (mostly by our maintainers to be fair at the moment!) which I enjoy flying, and hope to do a lot more flying in this summer and autumn than the spring where it's been in maintenance!

My wife has a rather lovely limited edition Sunbeam Alpine that has been in storage for about 8 years, but we're in the process of getting back on the road.

And... it would be rather fun to do some form of "his and hers" trip to one or two "wings and wheels" type event somewhere in the UK this August / September.

Neither of us have been to any of these events before, so don't have much experience to draw on.

Can anybody recommend any worth going to, and give any hints as to how to get the most fun out of such an event?

Not in the UK, but both plane and car (and their crews of course) would be more than welcome at the Old Timer Fly-In at EBDT in the mid-august bank holiday. Getting the car across might be harder though, or you'd have to find a Bristol Freighter somewhere...

Dunsfold Wings and Wheels

I've been to this a few times over the years, always enjoyed it. Lots to see, both cars and planes. Commentary is usually good as well, Brenden O'Brian and Tiff Needel etc, so a bit more knowledgeable and entertaining as well!

Oops, sorry, just checked and it's not on this year but "we hope to be able to run it in future years"
