I need a clarification.Normal atc clearances in India include a lower level than the one filed by the operator. For eg a typical clearance in Kolkotta would be "cleared to chennai route A465,level 240,legos departure, intial mantain 2000 feet further with radar, sqwak 2345.Whereas our operator would have filed for fl380.Hence in event of a total communication failure, would we be required to climb to fl 240,hold the level for about 3 minutes and then continue to filed fl380,as per the icao procedure or are we required to mantain fl240 all the way to our destination

You should climb and maintain 240 for the next 7 minutes and then climb your filed 380, or set A7600 and after 7 minutes climb to 380.

Sorry to bump an older thread.
What to do with the "initially maintain 2000 ft"?
