Reminds me of a question asked by a Trident once: "What are the delays like on the Red and Green motorways to the Fatherland today?"

German air traffic controllers to strike Tuesday » Breaking News | Wire Update News | News Wires - (http://wireupdate.com/wires/19321/german-air-traffic-controllers-to-strike-tuesday/)

Is this true? If so why are there any ATCOs left in the UK?

inbalance

Yes, that is true.

90000 € is 48122,45 € after Tax and social security.

They say the salary starts at 90 000 €, is it true ? If so pretty impressive.

Touny,
remember last year ?
When we were paid more than €150000 per year, had 242 holidays, were potential mass-murderers because we worked alone on a sector in order to let our female colleagues go to school and bring their children back at home (not to mention they didn't come at all on Wednesdays and Week-ends). :ugh:

How long did it last, this bashing in the press ? One year ? One and a half ?

I DON'T BELIEVE JOURNOS !
Furthermore when they talk wages during a negotiation on wages. :=

Touny,

Did you get the point of what inbalance said?:ugh: Just re-read it.

Bratco and Ron83,
no need to yell, I was just asking the question without any kind of prejudice, for information....

I don't know how well are german ATCOs paid (except rumours...), i don't know what kind of taxes and so on.
So i was asking... I guess that what these forums are for.
I know my situation and how much i'm paid and i'm absolutely not complaining, I understand pretty well the defiance towards media... I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...
Sorry if that's still too sensitive for you guys.

From the union's flyers I've read, it seems the big deal in Germany is overtime and all the problems this induces : overstress and fatigue, understaffing on a medium or long term. Thus safety and/or delays in the balance.

From a strategic point of view, I reckon negotiating pay improvement at the same time was a mistake from the German union, in the current financial and social background : too easy for management and journos to break your image.

Accept money as a counterpart for overtime is a mistake (in ATC). As we can see in Spain...

Denti

Umm, BrATCO, if you read it carefully you might notice that the union didn't want to barter overtime for money. That was what the management wanted as a compensation for better pay and which was refused by the union. However, working conditions are not part of the current round of negotiations, it is about pay, seniority, qualification requirements for certain positions and so on.

By the way, there is absolutely no better time for higher pay than this year. Germany faces a real shortage of skilled professionals in many professions, unemployment is at a 25 year low and economic growth is the highest for more than 10 years, yes it is even substantially higher on a higher level than prior to the credit crunch.

It is only comparable to the spanish problem in one point: the company didn't hire enough ATCO trainees, especially after 9/11 and now there is a very real staff shortage in certain sectors, especially in the western part of germany. The rest really isn't.

BrATCO

I stand corrected. The flyers I read were summaries in French...

In this case, no mistake from the union, just a blatant trap from management.

Oh dear, did someone mention the war?

I did... useless it seems...

...btw, after 4 more weeks of '' an increasingly active role in coordinating the delivery of products and deliverables that will benefit the entire system ''... any news about the mediation ???... similar as the french and spanish ones ???... :D

ATC Watcher
7th Sep 2011, 16:34
Mediator will give his conclusion to both parties today. Dfs and Gdf haven until 16.09 to agree or not, until then both prties should keep silent. If both parties are requesting it, same mediator can continue 4 more weeks.
If one refuses, them mediator will deliver his verdict on 16.09 ( or earlier)

Industrial action if any can only take place after that.
