Hi all,
At what point in the PPL should I obtain my medical?
Is it required before first solo?
Thanks,
Rich

Yes, but just get it sorted before you start.

Yes you need it for your first solo, so the sooner the better really, then all you have to worry about are your landings :ok:
I had my solo delayed untill I could get my medical, and went solo as soon as I showed the certificate to the instructor.
Good luck

You can fly as a student on the NPPL medical declaration, irrespective to whethter you are on an NPPL or JAA-PPL course. This may be a cheaper option though you will need a current Class 2 (or 1) to get a JAR-PPL issued.
If there are any doubts about your eligibility for a JAR Class 2 then it's best to get it sorted as soon as possible.
