Can I assume he is referring to the squark code 7600 for loss of 2 way communication between pilot and controller?

according our atc training:

when in VMC: land at the nearest suitable airport
when in IMC: fly according current flight plan to IAF descent in Hold at IAF and try to land within 30min after time over IAF oder EAT and use a instrument approach procedure...

so we expect the unexpected :D

okey...i know the same but i found in some documents that if flying IFR automatically the pilot must perform the procedure for IMC .... and this is not so clear for me

Call the controller from your cell phone - or use the ones in the passengers seat backs? :p

UK procedures - based on those used throughout the European region - seem pretty clear. See AIP entry (http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/aip/current/enr/EG_ENR_1_1_en.pdf) and, in particular ENR 1.1.3 para 4.2.2.3. I said that the UK procedures were based on the ones developed by Eurocontrol - as I recall clarifying the point about which procedures an IFR aircraft would follow was one of the amendments that the UK made.
