Hi
If I do my flight test is it possible to take all my papers and go to CAA Gatwick and get the license in my hand straight away? Or do I need to send them by post to them ?
Cheers

They have a same day service, you drop in the paperwork in the morning and they give you a 'slot' in the afternoon to collect everything.
I dropped paperwork in at lunch a couple of weeks ago for a type rating and picked everything up done at 4pm.

Only for ratings though, not for licenses sadly - those are about a week turnaround. Best just to put it in the post & wait. It's worth it when that envelope comes back...

That's a shame... I passed my PPL and IR in Switzerland, and immediately after the exams, the examiners handed me a "temporary" licence which was valid for 10 days, which was enough to get the final paper.
