asked by london last night to maintain mach .8 which was responded by a definite no due turb. Just a heads up, in turb or unstable atmospheric conditions .8 is way way too close to getting an overspeed, thanks.:)

the 320's are far more speed sensitive to oscillations than the 737.

just say what you can do at the time then, then we can slow the guys behind you down or make you last in the queue by speeding the others up

As said before ...if you can't fly the speed let us know and we will go to plan B.... especially with turbulence, sat in our comfy seats on the ground we may be unaware of planes bouncing about. :}

Im sure most controllers willl give you the speed that is most suitable at the time. if you cant do it let us know!

there has been a number of times recently (within the last week) when none of the aircraft have even reported the turbulence so we wouldnt have even known!

If memory serves, recommended turbulence speed is M0.76. Mmo is M0.82, so .80 is definitely pushing it in potential windshear, as Bearcat says.

In the interests of having this kind of useful information on one thread, the turbulence speed for the 757/767s that I fly is M0.78/290kts.
