Hi,

This weekend it is the Strathaven Balloon Festival, see http://www.strathavenballoonfestival.co.uk/index.html (http://www.strathavenballoonfestival.co.uk/index.html)

and there is a fly-in and Open Day at Strathaven Airfield on the Sunday: http://www.strathavenairfield.co.uk (http://www.strathavenairfield.co.uk/)

All visitors welcome, no landing fees.

The airfield will be closed between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday for a power kiting display and a radio-controlled model flying display.

The hot-air balloons will be flying from the town at 6am and 6pm, with the "balloon glow" at 9pm on the Saturday.

Why not head along and see us.

Very best wishes,

Colin

How's the runway? Is the damp patch dry? I need to use all the runway... a Pup. I was hoping to fly in from down south for Fergus' thingme.

Hi,

The "damp bit" is just to the west of the runway intersections. See www.ukga.com (http://www.ukga.com) for a photo. It is right in the middle of the runway - whuch is pretty wide! If you have concerns, I would suggest landing to one side or the other.
I don't know the take-off and landing distances for your Beagle Pup, but to be frank we have never had a day where the runway has ben unuseable due to the wet, unlike many airfields down south. Perhaps that is because the 200m of the western end is always dry and is all that most of the aircraft here need.
Hope to see you tomorrow, please give me a phone in the morning if you want an update after today's rain!
Looking at the long TAF, we may have a 100ft cloudbase.
Very best wishes,

Colin
