Planning a trip to France again soon. Can someone just remind me: can the relevant FIS advise about activity in these? I've only ever been through at the weekends before.

Also, where is that website with French RT phraseology?

You can find out whether the large restricted areas (e.g. R31A1) are active with a call to the first unit e.g. Brest Info. They phone up the relevant mil unit (Cazaux or whatever) for you.

I don't know if this works for the low level military corridors but those are relatively easy to avoid vertically.

The problem is on Sundays when the big regional FIS frequencies can be unmanned, with an answering machine giving you another frequency, which is also dead! However I have not seen this in the last two years; instead I got a very sharp radar service all the way to the UK FIR.

I think that if going VFR one still has to flight plan to go around them. En-route you can ask for shortcuts.

If IFR then your CFMU-compliant route will probably avoid the stuff anyway. I've never tried doing DCTs in France when IFR; never had any need to since the obvious routes go through CFMU readily.

Go to Olivia and look at the NOTAM page where you'll find a Low Altitude Zone listing or 'Zone basse et tres basse altitude' Here's an example
