From: Hot News. . . .KINGMAN, Ariz. – An airplane made an emergency landing on Interstate 40 Wednesday after its two engines caught fire, said a Department of Public Safety spokesman.

The twin-engine Cessna Citation II landed around 5:40 p.m. on the westbound lanes about three miles east of Kingman, said DPS spokesman Frank Valenzuela. :)

"They were enroute from Phoenix to Bullhead City when both engines flamed out," he said.

Two people, whose names were not released, were in the aircraft. Neither was injured, Valenzuela said.

The aircraft is registered to OK Doke Aviation Inc. of Longmont, Colo.

The pilot attempted to land at the Kingman airport but couldn't make it and landed instead in a clear strip of I-40, Valenzuela said. No vehicles were in the way, he said.

"Right after the landing, the aircraft was sitting on its belly without the landing gear," Valenzuela said. It was unclear if the landing gear had broken off during a hard landing or if it was used at all.

Police rerouted traffic around I-40 until the aircraft was moved to the side of the road at 8 p.m., Valenzuela said.
