What is the differences between the FMC on an Airbus A320 compared to that of a Boeing 737 for example. No doubt they both achieve the same end product but has the airbus one being a revised one with specific Airbus type phraseology, It seems to be laid out different with different button titles! Or is it just a makeover from the Older FMC?

Celtflyer,

Both are quite different in their basic operation. Some terms are thesame, and as you say the end product is thesame, but the operation of them is completely different.

Having said that, once you get used to one or the other (or both), they both do a fine job!

In my personal opinion, both FMS systems do a good job. The Boeing system on later models (e.g. 777) is more capable than the one on the Airbus (A320 family) but is less intuitive in use; more ways to skin the cat and hence more ways to fall into a trap or two.
