Hi

Can anyone tell me what the requirements are for a Scheduled Public Transport flight (i.e. not air taxi etc) to operate without Cabin Crew - i.e. PAX and flight deck crew only?

Is it possible for to operate without Cabin Crew if fewer then so many pax are carried, or if the aircraft is below a certain size etc?

Assume a JAR state registered ac.

I think it's to do with the number of seats on the aircraft as oppose to the number of pax on board.....

Below 20 seats, no FA required (why so many small turboprop types are 19 seats).

Above this minimum of one cabin crew per 50 seats.

Depending on the type and size of doors or emergency exits installed, you may need more than 1 F/A per 50 pax.
As far as I know, you need one F/A per type A door, one F/A per two class I exits and no F/A for class III exits. Better check this with cabin safety experts.

I once waited more than one hour in an A321, because one F/A was missing, so the total number was below the required minimum.
