What a stupid question to ask in an Air Traffic Control Forum. You don't honestly expect to get a serious answer do you? Must be a wind up.

THE EEL

if it something i said ?
well the point is that YES i do want an answer.

What you want and what you get are two diff. things.

And that's what I think about that.

Steady gents,

Remember PPRuNe is open to people of all levels of experience. Although it does seem that Eel has a knack of alienating him/herself from groups of aviation people (see thread in Cabin Crew section).

Eel,

Yes, the airspace is very busy. However the professionalism of the men and women that work within it, on the ground and in the air, coupled with various safety nets such as TCAS and Conflict Alert mean that it is unlikely that there will ever be a mid air. Not impossible, but very very unlikely.

And Eel, don't believe everything you are told, those who are in the business tend to know the whole story a little better than the man in street.

"Someone told me....."

Sounds like an EXPERT to me!!!!

An ex is "a has been" and a spurt is "a drip under pressure"

That should sum it up!!!

My dad said I should not let my little head do the thinking.

What does that mean ?

Close:

a. When the hairs on the back of your neck stick up.

b. When two merged blips reappear as two.

c. When the pilot tells you he has responded to a TCAS RA.

d. When the supervisor/chief stands you down before the end of shift.

e. When the pilot says "F****** hell, that was close!"

f. When the media think they're on to a story.

http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/eek.gif when the unit you've just transferred the traffic to descends it head on to your other traffic at a range of 2 miles. Hairs on end , massive rise in pitch of voice, major rise in blood pressure etc etc

"Well Centre, I didn't see the whites of his eyes, coz the pilot was wearing sunglasses...."

True quotes (and I mean not hearsay)

1. Lightning having been told not to climb above FL310 because of SAS at FL330. London calls to report the SAS has had a "shiny aeroplane" climb vertically less than a mile in front, pitch over and go vertically down .5 miles in front. Quote from Lightning pilot when asked to confirm he had not climbed above FL310:

"Sorry, I was'nt there for long. I just needed to lose some energy".

(Mid 80s. The SAS pilot did not file, he "just wanted to know what type it was".)

2. Lightning pilot (again mid 80s) told to maintain 2000ft clearance on airliner on which he is visual. London reports the airline has just had a Lightning do a barrel roll around him.

Quote from protesting Lightning pilot:
"But I maintained 2000ft all the way round".

Thank god for 2 seaters and Mode C.
