A good old C150A from Seawing at Southend.

A refresher session for a tyro who has only managed 6 hours since gaining his PPL. With some added fun at the end of the session as a reward for not forgetting to much!

Interesting pics. There's just a touch of left aileron coming in as the stick is pulled back, which is the opposite of what usuallyhappens when pilots fly with their right hand.

It's interesting to see the rippling on the Robin's wing as the G comes on....

The rippling freaked me out a bit..!!! I watched it quite a bit as we went over once, it didn't half move sometimes...:ooh:

BRL - assuming that you were "going straight up", what stalled?

It couldn't have been the wing as it would be in a zero G situation and every ATPL stude and aerobatic pilot knows that Vs is a dependent upon the magnitude of G (or the root of G, if memory serves me right). Therefore zero G = no stall possible

Having never flown a Robin but seen a few do quite well at beginner and standard level competitions, can you remember how much height you gained from S&L after the loop to the point when Paulo gave it left welly and right fwd stick ?

I am sure if you have a confident, inspiring instructor as I am fortunate to have you will enjoy it.

Nerves were the order of the day when I knew we would be practicing spin recovery.

After my first spin my view was exactly the same sensation as described in the Trevor Thom manual and I hadnt a clue where I was. But after a couple of practice runs it all slowed down and I enjoyed it enough to ask for another lesson.

The loop was much more relaxing.

It is my instructors view is that these manoeuvers give you confidence and the spin recovery whilst not part of the course could one day save your neck.

Relax and enjoy.

Hi Cag,
I flew with DB (The Admiral "were not worthy") last week and the first time in OZ. Nice aircraft for an old airframe, nice and responsive. After all though, it is an aero!

As a humble Pitts pilot, I'd like to endorse c'Wally's caveat.

Perhaps you'll be able to find some bright, young, brave thing who'll gently wring you out in a Cessna Aerobat in your neck of the woods.

Wring, neck, woods - oops sorry that'd be next weekend!

Seriously, don't think that you've much to worry about, it'll all be okay IF you have the right instructor. You are doing this at La Porte, ain't ya bubba?

I did my first solo aero's last Thursday. It's the best "good feeling" I've had from flying so far.

I started with a morning session with my instructor, then after having some lunch, I got sent up all on me'tod. What a strange strange feeling it was. The odd thought of "if this all goes wrong, I have to sort it out (or jump out)" because you can't throw the stick at anyone and say "help"

Anyway, even with all that, I was still happy to be doing it. As I pushed the nose down to get a bit of speed, I pulled level and thought "this is it"..... and over we went in a 1/2 cuban, into a stall turn, pulled a loop, wing over?, then a slow roll. Sorted.

I did it another three times before deciding to go back down :)

Friday, I did my first competition as a beginner.

Glad you enjoyed it, but be warned........ it's very addictive !!!

What MikeeB hasn't told you is that he won the beginners BAeA competition on Friday at Sherbert Helmet.

69% is a very commendable score!
