This thread is for people who are going flying, and have a spare seat, that they are willing to share.

I suggest including the following details in your post.

1. Where you are flying from.
2. Date & time
3. Who you are willing to take. eg. non-flying child, non-flying adult, student pilot, low hour pilot, high hour pilot, pilot with specific experience that you hope to learn from.
4. Costs. Is the seat free, or do you expect the passenger to pay the landing fee, buy lunch, or share all costs.

4. Costs. Is the seat free, or do you expect the passenger to pay the landing fee, buy lunch, or share all costs.

Would exercise caution when advertising spare seats like this, see Art 130 of ANO, esp : no information concerning the flight shall have been published or advertised prior to the commencement of the flight other than, in the case of an aircraft operated by a flying club, advertising wholly within the premises of such a flying club in which case all the persons carried on such a flight who are aged 18 years or over shall be members of that flying club.

OK, i'll kick off and say I'm flying from a strip near Junc 14 of the M4 most weeks. Sometimes I am going somewhere, sometimes I am not.

If anyone wishes to PM me and come for a trip out let me know what kind of flight you want (local summers evening bimble/trip to a destination I might have to do) and I'll gladly accomodate you.

I don't want any money for it, just some decent conversation will do (immigrant rulings / the banning of vegetarianism etc).

Student pilots welcome, high hour pilots too (as long as they don't criticise). Student female pilots especially welcome:E

Seriously, feel free to get in touch. I'm happy to take you.:ok:

Looks like a good idea to me - especially for student pilots seeking to learn from those more experienced.

I think the way around the ANO is for people who are happy to take someone flying simply to say that and the generic types of flight that they typically do (inc. broad location). Then no details of any specific flight are being published. Probably best avoid online discussions about costs. That can be raised between the individuals concerned.

It's borderline, but then that's how the law works.

Squadgy: Thank you for the heads up there, there are other aviation forums about that have a seperate forum just for this kind of thing so there is/must be a way around it somehow. (see the post above.)

Have not had an e-mail from the CAA for a while now, so far so good....... :)

Well since no one is advertising I thought I'd put in a request! I'm a student PPL (33 hours) based in between Southampton and Goodwood and would be very grateful of any free/cheap flying.

Ta in advance.

Ah, C-bert, I thought I might find you here! Likewise, anyone wanting some company, student (14 hours), from Blackbushe or Wycombe? I have a preference for flying with competent pilots in fully airworthy aircraft!

I am willing to offer a free seat to any interested parties. North London, weekdays more often than weekends, but I'm flexible. Would be most interested to hear from students or newly qualified PPL's - I wish I'd known someone to fly with when I was at that stage myself. All I ask for in return is some enthusiasm and interest.

What amazes me is how infrequently offers like this are taken up (never did hear from that kid with the letter in the magazine despite offering precisely what he wanted). I may have a very untrustworthy face, but you can't tell that online...

OK, I fly from Leeds/Bradford, and I'm quite happy to act as an aerial chaperone for any young female students at any time !;)

Only jesting, if there are any students out there who fancy a trip at some point, drop me a PM with your details and preferences.

I'm not often available due to the usual combined pressures of work, family, bank manager and tax man, but you never know, you might catch me on a day when the above haven't ...

I fly from Shoreham and despite a long list of persons wanting to go flying, it is not always possible for them to do so. Warrior, Tomahawk or 150/152, do drop me a PM with your details if you would be interested.

Particularly happy to take up studes or recently qualified PPL's who would like to have someone more experienced sat next to them. I know I have gleaned a lot of knowledge from having someone there to advise/help. And somehow it doesn't seem nearly as nerve wracking!!

I'm a recent PPL, flying out of Cambridge. Next couple of flights I intend to make already have willing victims, ahem, volunteers, allocated to seats, but there may be the odd occasion when I have the aeroplane booked for an hour, and an empty right hand seat.

I tend to stick to weekends, and probably won't have a seat spare for a good month or so, but if there are any studes or non-flyers who can potentially make Cambridge at short notice, drop me a PM...

If the good weather holds out, some spare seats on Friday afternoon (around 1700 local, 10th Sep) from Prestwick to Inverness.

Will be returning around lunchtime on Sunday (12th Sep).

Meeting some Inverness ATC people, Eastern Airways pilots, and PPLs on Friday evening for a few libations.

There is also a group of fliers going out on the Saturday evening as well, although I am otherwise engaged.

Accomodation, food, & drink, all at your own expense and organisation. Seats in aircraft are free, with no taxes :}

Or you can get the train or bus back I suppose !!

PA28 from Blackbushe seeks excuses to fly.

Goes anywhere as long as it's outside the circuit. eg. Sheffield, Leeds, Blackpool, Scotland, West Country (inc Scilly Isles), Wales etc.

Friends and family now exhausted by trips and airfield food, so often have a spare seat or two.

Normally weekends only.

PM if interested.

Anyone wishing to share some short strip, taildragger, barnstorming cubbing fun in my 1943 L4 are welcome to PM me.

I fly from Eastbach, Forest of Dean and fly once or twice a week - it's a beautiful part of the world and there are lots of interesting aircraft based at our place too.

I don't want any money for it as I own half the plane and basically fly for gas. I just want to share this wonderful privilege with others.

If anyone ever needs ballast from Conington or Fenland I would be more than interested. My log book tells me it has been over 12 months since I last had my bum off the ground (well, more than 3 feet off the ground)

G'day fellow pilots,

I'm training for my PPL on the Isle of Man, but if theres anyone around liverpool/blackpool or very close to them, or the IOM of course, that can spare an hour for a short flight, I would really enjoy the learning experience, and the pilot chit-chatter!
Maybe when I pass my PPL, I can do the opposite and offer flights instead...

Taking advantage of EasyJet flights CPH-Stansted I had this idea of "exchange". I'll pick you up at CPH airport, we'll go flying in a pa 28-181 or a C 172SP from Landskrona in Sweden over to Denmark. I'll expect to be treated in the same way in return.
Flights leave Stansted on weekends at 07.15, landing CPH 09.55, return 19.35 landing Stansted 20.30.
Isn't it a nice way to spend a weekend?

Hi guys,

I am hoping to start the training for my PPL this summer. I want to do a full time course.

At the moment I am pre-studying the ground school part.

I would be grateful of a seat in a plane, just to sit there and see theory in action. It would help with the study.

I am a dab hand at being ballast, can speak - so can assist in alleviating boredom; and generally have two arms two legs, and one head on my shoulders!

I live in the South, so anywhere inside the square created by Popham, Blackbushe, Denham and Booker, is ideal.

PM me if you can help.

Hi

I'm a student (11 hours) and wondered if anyone has a spare seat on weekday evenings around Milton Keynes? I'm here with a job for work until 5 August and struggle for things to do on Monday to Thursday nights!

I am going out of Sleap this Friday for a days flying around the country with a stop over where ever I end up and back to Sleap no later than 11.00am on Saturday morning.

It is a club plane so I need to be P1 at all time. Don't care too much if you contribute to fuel. Up to you.

No kids and no high hour pilots (unless you have a real sense of humour). To keep the wife happy, any females need to have at least two heads and a hairy back.

Me low hour recently qualified. PA28. An ability to cope with a degree of coarse language is essential.

I have to burn some holes in the sky in a 4-seat twin over the next few of weeks. My cheapest flying is Bournemouth to the channel islands, so for a small consideration we can go to Alderney. If you are willing to make up the difference to me (still less than half the cost of the hours I get cheaply from my employer!) we can go wherever you like from Bournemouth, 2 or even three of you (fuel dependent).

I have a CPL/IR, and all the flying will be IFR, so you get to see what that's like!

I THINK you can when flying with an instructor, for your PPL. In one of my early lessons, third or fourth I think, my dad sat in the back. Perhaps it's up to the club? Might be worth asking your instructor. I guess the odd flight with a passanger would be ok, doubt they'd be very happy if someone else came up every lesson though!

'Bump' as requested by BRL so he can find this thread again to make it sticky, and a quick copy of my plea :)

I'm in Northamptonshire, close to Sywell and considering doing the PPL, (or probably actually an NPPL Microlight). I would love to grab a spare seat sometime in Group A or Microlight in Northamptonshire or surrounding counties to get some experience and go for a ride.

Happy to pay some cash for fuel or cost share etc and be hands on with anything that needs doing. I'm about 80Kg, 6ft.

Thanks

NPPL with about 90 hours looking to fly with someone. Main aim is to double up trip lengths, so I can actually go somewhere. I realise my hours will stay the same as I can afford now; but if we can can afford 2 hrs each, we can make it a good trip.

Now this probably seems crazy but does anyone fly any IFR trips out of Sheffield? i would love to sit in and get some experience of it. Available most days at the minute

Does Sheffield have IFR capability? Seem to remember their only being an NDB on the airfield when I last visited. Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question...

my first message here:) .. you will perhaps come in France within the next months.. If you come in Alsace, east of France, very close to Germany and switzerland. If you not scared to fly with a froggy in a PIPER PA 18, over the beautiful Vosges mountains, not talking about having a cool glass of white Alsace wine or a fresh Alsacian beer.... :ok:

Hi everyone, thought it was about time I registered instead of just lurking in the forums!

I am a 100+ PPL with Night Qualification flying from Prestwick. Just back onto the PA28 after a couple of happy years on C172 (which has now sadly moved to pastures new :{ ), but the chance to get back on C172 would be greeted enthusiastically!

Mostly weekend flying for me, spare seats sometimes available for jaunts to the Islands, Ireland and the top end of the UK in general! Would also be interested in taking up spare seats and helping with Nav etc (willing to contribute!) to expand my horizons a bit further. I am also happy to go with either new PPLs or those with a bit more experience. Can travel to GLA / Cumbernauld if required.

Feel free to PM if any of this is of interest.

Happy flying,

Gregor.

Hi, in the summer there will be the occasional empty seat in a 152 flying out of Perth (Scotland, not Aus). You can either come along for the experience for a wee bit of cost share or, if a licence holder, share longer trips, eg down west coast to Ireland and back up through England etc

I love being in and around helicopters, and (of course!) flying them. I got a PPL in sunny California, and because of my US licence until now I've done all my flying on holidays in the States. I've notched up around 100 hours, mostly in a Schweizer 300 (Hughes 269). I've also flown a Jet Ranger a couple of times, which was "awesome", an R22 and an R44.

I've often thought that there must be loads of empty seats flying around the UK, and wondered whether some of the pilots would be happy to have some company and perhaps even let me do a spot of flying myself (subject to any licence issues). And then I stumbled across this thread - great idea!

I'm a well-travelled, professional 38 year old, and probably reasonable company (at least for the first hour or so!). I live in Ealing and work in the city. I never got a car, but can get to anywhere that's serviced by public transport.

If anyone would be willing to give me either some cheap flying experience in the UK, or the chance to participate in an interesting flight somewhere, then I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Cheers!

I've just completed my PPL(H) in the home counties and love all things heli, shame I can't afford to fly too much over here, having exhausted all my funds getting to the PPL stage !

I would always be interested in a seat, particularly with those have lots of experience and are willing to impart knowledge, I'd even be happy in the back ! I work shifts so am often available weekdays if anyone has a local bimble or interesting day trip planned from somewhere in the home counties and wants company, plus a share of costs. I could probably even support 60 minutes of conversation at a push !

Now has anyone out there got a Gazelle they can take me in ?

I've a never-yet-used PPL(A) as I've been away in India for a few months since I passed my GST. TBH, it feels like I still need to learn to fly at the moment, so getting some RHS time would be great.

I'm going to try for a tailwheel rating whilst I'm back in the county (if the weather turns good), but in the mean time, if anyone is looking for a cost-sharer to occupy the RHS, I'm happy to drive a reasonable distance radius from Northampton to join you. Any time, week or weekend up to 3rd Sept. Just PM me and I'll do my best to make it.

Cheers

I keep a C303 Crusader in Stefanik-Bratislava, (you can get there cheaply on EasyJet or Ryanair). Fly in the beautiful local mountains or trips to Austria, Hungary and Croatian coast.

All types of pilots welcome, I like good company while flying, and sharing good ideas helps broaden the mind.

I'm expat brit, but am happy in a couple of other languages too..

Just drop me a mail if interested.

All,

Does anyone here know plaa343, aka Steve?

I organised to go flying with him on Wed, 3 hour return trip to find him not there and plane not booked. I have left several messages on his mobile (which the school confirmed was the correct mobile number for him) but no reply, and now the mobile gives number unobtainable?

Id like to at least know he is ok! I'm not on a witch hunt or anything for him not turning up, just a bit disapointed that I didn't get to have some fun in the firefly!

Cheers

I've had a similar experience having responded to offers on this thread, although my disappointment was not even getting the courtesy of a response from someone offering me a trip via a PM.
Come on people, if your offering to share flying time with anyone, have some honour for yourself and respect for those that respond.:ugh: :=

I fly out of Leeds/Bradford regularly, although as I haven't found a group in the area yet I'm still hiring so can't afford to get up as much as I'd like. Generally used to miles of concrete, but I'm also pretty handy with short bumpy farm strips aswell!

Anyone who fancies chipping in for the cost and joining me is welcome. Usually fly 152/172. Prefer someone who's happy to meet up for a pint beforehand (not directly beforehand, obviously!) so we both know we're talking to a genuine non-fruitcake t'interweb timewaster.

By the same token if anyone else flying in the area is in need of some company I'm more than happy to join them go halves on expenses.

Hello all,

I'll continue to check this board for specific opportunities but thought I'd put myself forward as interested in going along for any flying within reasonable distance from central London (hours train ride or so). I'm a lifelong enthusiast finally making the descision to get into actual flying. As such I am very keen to be around planes and pilots in order to get more familiar with everything and better judge how exactly to go about getting that PPL and beyond.

Happy to share costs of course.

I'm going to the GATBASH next weekend

Cheers

I am a 130 hour PPL pilot, with next to no experience in the UK. I have FAA IR, and am happy with RT in USA, but who wouldn't be?? I would like to sit in right seat and listen to RT in all sorts of airspace.

Closest airfield to me is Redhill. Although I would travel to Blackbushe and Dunsfold. I am happy to pay towards costs, although money is tight.

Hello,

I am flying to Mami on the 7th of Jan 07, and the making my way to Naples Air Center for the 10th of Jan where I have booked an Alarus CH 2000. I plan to do some hour building and am going to fly from Florida to Las Vages and back over 2 weeks.

I posting this to see if anyone is up for coming with me, as I figure 2 pilots are better than 1, for saftey reasons, and company. I plan to fly around 5hrs a day, and will have the plane for 2 weeks.

I do not expect any payment for this adventure,(you will have to pay for your own flight to the USA!) just share the costs on any accomidation we use on the way, and of course, feed and water yourselfs.

Please contact me at [email protected] for any more info or questions.

I am 24yrs old have a PPL and Night Rating, I have around 80hrs. I am a student ATPL starting Oxford in Feb 07.

I would like to find some one here in the Waikato, NZ who has a spare helicopter seat from time to time to learn from or help out when it comes to cleaning the machine or hangar I have been doing it part-time for the last year with the mighty Bell 222 so Im not new to safety procedures in and around helicopters or OAA's (Operational Aircraft Areas) I want to get a better insight into different areas of operation with helicopters so I have a better understanding when I start my PPL(H) hopefully next year before working my way to CPL(H) PM if interested or know some one who is.

I may have missed the plot a bit on this forum regarding the implications of 'borrowing' or 'renting' an aeroplane from another individual. I have not, admittedly, studied all the CAA rules and regs on the subject. It would be of great interest to me to negotiate the 'loan' of an aircraft in the Warrior or Cessna172 category so that I can visit many of my old haunts in the north of Scotland without having to worry about paying for downtime. You would be lending/leasing your precious aircraft to a highly experienced pilot (22000 hours on most things from paragliders to 747s)
I'd be most obliged to have anyone's feedback on the practicality of this request.
Thank you and Seasons Greetings to all.

Anyone ever got a reply, or flight.....?
Yea 3 or 4 over a couple of years - only had one major let down - Drove for an hour only to find the guy hadn't turned up or even booked the plane and then he disappeared of the face of the earth ever since!

Hopefully I'll be on the other side of the fence soon - 1 hour solo nav left to do till I finish my Fixed wing NPPL M, only problem is I have been trying to do that hour since October but the weather and waterloged runways have been against me!

Well, I posted in May or June last year to say that I flew out of Biggin Hill and was happy to take anyone along any time I flew and a guy who is looking to convert his Canadian CPL into a Jar ATPL(f) contacted me and we have flown about 3 times on some great trips - one was to Leeds Bradford - so it does work. We'd have flown a lot more were we not both a bit hard up and restricted as to how often we could fly. I'm looking forward to some rides on the jump seat in return once he gets his dream job flying big boys toys!

We are holding a charity auction at a Burns Supper on Jan 25th, in aid of charities in the Heathrow area and would like to offer as many aviation related prizes as possible.
Dates would have to be mutually agreed of course but the main thing so as not to disappoint the winner would be that you are able to commit to doing this and to sharing contact details.
Please PM me if you are willing to help and I will respond with more details.
