Is Airforce 1 expected tomorrow [wed] or have i missed it?

Is it expected into Heathrow or to a military airfield?

This is one of those awkward "do I answer or not?" type situations.

i fully see your point.. if i had that information then i possibly would keep stum..

If you feel ethical obliged to say nothing, thats cool!

It's only a plane!!! :D

And if it didnt have that unique colour scheme, it wouldn't even get noticed.

It came to LHR last time, with escort and support aircraft. Don't know where this time, so long as he doesn't pinch my slot.

No doubting the size, colour and importance of the plane...

I'm sure getting to see that land would be just as difficult as getting a decent vantage point at Heathrow on any other day of the week!!!

Given the Secret Service security paranoia, why doesn't Dubya take a leaf out of his chum Tony's book: blag a plain(!) plane from one of the US carriers and travel (semi) incognito?;)

Cause if he wasn't in his own Presidential Jet, he wouldn't have his Pres Jacket on, and forget who he was. Probably end up in Immigration with all the other bods in T4, trying to find his passport. Asking for directions to "Bucking-ham Castle". :=

Maybe if he was dealt with like a "normal" punter he could rightly be arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Didn't come in today, and there was no sign of the secret service around LHR this afternoon which I would have expected if he was flying in this evening.

Jerricho, that's the sort of reply I'd expect from someone that you work with, still it hits the nail on the head.BTW all details about his visit are available via the good old BBC either teletext or online so I wouldn't worry about supplying info to any budding terrorists

They're all far wittier than me!

Many years ago whilst working on TMA North, Air Force One called and I asked him "Whose airforce is that". that caused a bit of a cough and a splutter.

Shack Something similar. We now get a lot more military flights than in the past with sometimes ambiguous call signs, e.g. HAF is either Greek Air Force or Hungarian; IAF is Italian or Indian.
I was sat with a trainee when FAFnnnn came up, trainee dived in with a long, illlegal, spiel in French. Stunned silence from the other end then Eastern Scandinavian voice said "Very nice, now in English please". Was he French or Finnish, take your pick.

Lon More, the countdown continues

If Air Force 1 comes in and a car backfires in Slough, the "support" aircraft will flatten the place! No bad thing in general, but my house is there....

When he came over in 2001/2002 (can't remember exactly when), Air Force One was parked at a military base just down the road from Oxford....

BBC News:
President George W Bush begins a three-day state visit to the UK on Wednesday 19 November.

So I'd say he will arrive next Wednesday :p

If not EGLL, then I'd hazard a guess at EGVN

Q. For the extremely old Heathrow Tower boys - was JK the only person ever to "send round" Air Force 1???

Well Bren I never did, honest, but as for JK well!!!

The latest is that AF1 will be landing on Rwy 25 at Northolt, with a right turn on the A40.

Kick the tires, light the fires, first off is lead, brief on guard.

Hi HD, wasn't me either, but did manage to send round a Royal Flight with the Duke of Kent on board on my first evening shift after validating there.... does that count??

Check 6 - we're landing westerlies at the moment, so it will be 25 Northolt, then a right turn on the A40...............should stop by the M25! :E

No probs Check 6 ;)

I'm used to being upside down anyway!

Maybe he will end up in Windsor........castle, palace, they're the same thing anyway ain't they? Nice little session in Bar Ha-Ha with Tones and Lizzy. Fix everything!

If they're going to try to get AF1 down on Northolt, I think I'll go along for a look! But I think I'll keep off the A40 so that when the 747 goes through the fence and across the road it'll have a clear run!

Uxbridge could do with some remodelling anyway. Perhaps a new gate guardian at RAF Uxbridge, hand delivered courtesy of the good ol' US of A!!?

Any idea what the support aircraft will be and what happens to them. Do they get vectored off the approach to land elsewhere at some point or do they do some fancy stuff in the overhead?

Will it be landing on 27L like the rest of the traffic [correct as of 17:23] ?

Doubt it they would bring it in over Windsor Great Park... Too much wide open spaces there for dubwa's liking!!

Support a/c generally include at least one C-5, with the others safely tucked inside :} Haven't seen the fast movers come down low during visits, I guess they land elsewhere.

If you missed this arrival, here's the first of two at EGAA in the Clinton era. Note the slight 'tongue in cheek' reply from the App. bossman! (no - not Clinton!!)

Hi,

To my knowledge this week was meant to be a 27R arrivals til 3 then 27L til night. However using my airband scanner and 10 ft high aerial i picked up the aircraft around the time AF1 was due in to be landing on 27R. This wouldn't suprize me as this is such an important aircraft. But i may i ask if it would use the LHR director because i was listening from 7-8 and didnt hear 'Air Force One With You'??? Thanks for reading!

Dave :D

I picked her up on final director (120.40) at about 1900 establishing on 27L. Presumably everything else clearing the way for her on 27R!

Hey guys,

We de-alternated to 27R ay 1800. Confused a few BA/BMA guys who had gone out on the right and weren't expecting to come back on the same.
