How come ? therefore can only give them 1/3 of the business I would have done..Simples (not that I compare the meerkats or anything else.com) MUFC Fan(unlucky:ouch:) quite rightly suggests they haven't lost it; They obviously don't want it or anyone else's outside of those dates. I can live with that....... Like I said, it was all I could come up with but put BLK back on page one and generated a few posts. Rgds The Moss:ok: |
Ballymoss
Have a feeling that MUFC fan was responding to another post but still the same topic. A post by IB4138 appeared then quickly disappeared.
Your quite right, it is a bit slow. Perhaps the calm before the storm :bored: |
Jet 2 Winter 10/11
horatio_b - Alicante will be 3xWeek all next winter, not just in Feb/March
I wouldn't read too much into no sign of GVA yet, no ski flights are on sale yet from any base |
So will BLK DUB now be a new Aer fungus Regional route:confused:
|
They will carry an EI flight code and I would expect flights from BLK to NYC/BOS/ORD/MCO being immanent IF EI were interested in changing their flight times which I doubt will happen any time soon...
|
Nope, The tie up will mean more than codes. From my understanding the ATR will be in full AerLingus livery from the start of April serving the route. This means good bye to the 42's which are in the Aer Arann livery. The route will only be served on the newer 72-500's from April.

Blackpool International - News - UK and European destinations with both charter and scheduled flights.
Would you ever have believed that you would be able to book BLK-JFK/JFK-BLK on one flight number?:} I bet the 'New Yorkers' will be wondering where the hell BLK is when it pops up on their computer screens! |
Things looking up MU. Not forgetting that from August the Bulgaria Holiday flights begin.
|
Yes it really is fantastic and I am sure we will see it in the media next month that NYC is available from BLK!:ok:
I think however that over the coming years there will be some major changes at MAN! That is the airport to watch! |
Well they are both North West airports MU, so the best of luck to both airports.
I am flying from MAN beginning of June, and BLK end of July, so this year I can experience both within weeks of each other. BLK to NYC would be special though, I like you say - There would be some head scratching in the Big Apple when BLK comes on the computer screens. |
Any New Yorker coming to Blackpool would think the town was in Haiti but without the heat.
|
WEll with the codeshare, at least it opens up the opportunity for the airport to say fly from BLK to ...abc..albeit via dublin , its no different than catching a KLM from liverpool to amsterdam to get a long haul flight that way, as a certain company say, every little helps:ok:
ALL we want now is some new routes, new terminal, shops, well hey might as well go for a second runmay too!!!! Just on another thought, its rather ironic now that as ryanair spat their dummy out over flying from blk, that a part owned company of theirs is now doing so:ok::} |
New York
Will RE (or EI regional) stay at 1 per day? Last time I looked this would mean limited north-atlantic connections over DUB. From memory I think New York was possible outbound, but on the return there was a long wait in DUB for the BLK flight. There was one other - possibly MCO. Free car parking, pre-clearance at DUB for US immigration and no queues at BLK - this is a real chance for the airport to step up to the mark, but they need to encourage double daily on the BLK-DUB route to make a real fist of it.
A couple of risks though - are the loads good enough to justify ATR72s every day? And will EI tolerate cannibalisation of MAN-DUB... |
I cant see that it would effect MAN greatly, seeing as FR flew both from MAN and BLK to dublin, would imagine it would hit LPL more , but who knows, all can say lets hope it works, and maybe not knocking aer arran, but alot more people will have heard of aer lingus, and possibly use BLK for ease of use, would be interesting if aer arran could offer more routes to ireland out of BLK, for those not wanting to be negative, it surely can only be a positive, to be attracting a stronger brand name to the airport, if airport can attract more pax, who knows maybe aer lingus would do a route or 2 from BLK, I know its very early days but can always hope, wish someone would pick up the winter agp flights again, surely thats a no brainer even with downturn or now slight upturn in economy, Anybody know how bulgaria flights are selling, was looking at there for a change to the usual spain/canaries summer, but unsure whether to book early as friends have done this a previous couple of times with balkan when flying from BLK and had their flight cancelled due to lack of interest.
|
The only connection is JFK which is a short one hour stop in DUB. On the way home there is about a 4 hour stop in Dublin if taking the latest JFK-DUB flight.
If you are really keen on using BLK then you may be able to connect onto UA and JetBlue flights from JFK but that is two stops!:\ |
For anyone living in Lancashire, wanting to travel to JFK, this does at least give a very interesting alternative to travelling to MAN or LPL. Yes, a change is required in DUB but passengers are used to transitting - just look at the success of KLM, AF and LH in encouraging people to fly from the uK via their own hubs. Going via somewhere is usually cheaper than a non-stop flight, so again this may encourage up-take. The key thing is that the current flight times need to be amended to have a departure ex-BLK around 0900, in order to connect to the EI longhaul network to NYC, BOS, MCO, LAX, etc. This may come. I suspect that most customers will still be point-to-point passengers, though. Great news for BLK, just needs the local travel trade to get behind it.
On a different note, does anyone know what happened to the ALC and GVA flights? There's been none for a few weeks, no idea why. Don't think the same happened last year. There's only been a Tenerife for a while. The ALC re-starts early Feb, while GVA returns for 2 rotations only for half-term. Will other airlines introduce new routes, when the current offerings don't operate presumably due to poor loads? |
The Gazette has the story.
Bosses at Blackpool International hope it will attract more people to the terminal instead of travelling to Manchester, Birmingham or London-based airports to fly to New York. Being the a/c will be going to Dublin in any case, and the flight to New York is; really is Dublin to New York. Does it really matter about Blackpool supplying that many pax?. The airport are going to have to be given time for people to realise they have gone from rags to riches. |
I don't think BLK will provide many JFK bound passengers but then again, how many people head to JFK from MAN on an LH flight...
It is all about the actual accessibility. I now have to option of flying direct from BLK to NYC which I never had before. LPL has been singing the KLM tune so why not let BLK with it's new EI link... |
BACK In th old days, spacegrand operated to dub with a t'wotter (not dissimilar to a t'witter) and had a similar arrangement whereby you could fly to the big apple and even boston, all from blackpool (but not realy). didnt work out, nor will this, but i do have the timetable to prove it.
would love to see mufc's stats for people going to jfk from blk. desperate pr from sk methinks |
