That seems much more plausible than setting up your own personal airline...

PRESTWICK

A bit of a none event really........

A bit of a none event really........
Care to share? What was the announcement?

EDIT: Never mind, found it on twitter.

Trump to base his 757 and a Sikorsky 76B at PIK to transport people to and from his golf resort.

NorthSouth 14th November 2014 10:34

Is that all? A few golfers being helicoptered to Turnberry?

litefoot1 14th November 2014 14:52

Why did that merit a press conference? :bored:

Halmyre 14th November 2014 15:05

It's Donald Trump, what else do you expect? The man does love a good blaw (unless it's the wind doing the blawing of course).

Maybe he'll invest some money on redecorating the passenger terminal. :)

He won't invest a penny/cent. He'll wallow in the free advertising though , and he'll move the operation elsewhere if PIK closes !

False reporting going on here. Resulting in more negativity. What mr trump plans do is base his 757 and helicopter at prestwick airport. Also attract private flights from usa and the rest of the world to PIK and then onto trump turnberry golf course. Aircraft such as gulf stream , bombardiers and others over the next few years resulting in.prestwick handling hundreds of flights.

Its ALL POSITIVE people.... Cmon..Things can only get BETTER..

The Hypnoboon 14th November 2014 17:01

Do we know exactly what he is doing?

Will the 757 and helicopter be stored in the 747 hanger when not in use?
Have they leased that on a long term deal?
What are the financial terms of the deal to bring Trump Aviation to Prestwick?

However, I would say at least it is something positive for PIK

TSR2 14th November 2014 18:49

What mr trump plans do is base his 757 and helicopter at prestwick airport.
My understanding is that he will base his equipment at Prestwick only when there is a major Golf tournament at his Golf Course which will of course attract maybe a substantial number of private movements.

Wonder if he will have to pay £2000 per day for the Polar hangar?

NorthSouth 15th November 2014 16:05

Just as well Trump has found out that Prestwick is quite close to Turnberry because all those golfers in private jets previously flew in to Aldergrove, took the bus to Belfast, got on the ferry to Ardrossan and hitched a lift down the road past Prestwick. :hmm:

Shed-on-a-Pole 15th November 2014 17:15

If somebody genuinely organised that routing, there may be a case for a special phonecall. "YOU'RE FIRED!!!"

SWBKCB 15th November 2014 18:11

So long as they haven't paid too high a price, can't do PIK any harm to be associated with Turnberry even if it is just as one of Trumps "preferred partners".

Might not be much but at least it is something positive which may help generate some additional traffic.

NorthSouth 15th November 2014 20:18

I think the Press & Journal encapsulated the essence of this announcement by claiming that it would be good for Aberdeen because it would mean golfers would fly into Prestwick and then be helicoptered to the Trump Menie Resort.

I was gonna say you couldn't make it up but of course Trump just did.

N4565L 15th November 2014 22:28

The S-76 will link Turnberry with Doonbeg, County Clare in Ireland

Harry O 17th November 2014 11:11

So Trump invests lots of dollars in a golf course - fine.
Then he doesn't invest in Prestwick airport, but starts a partnership instead.

So, does he get discounted rates on his fees?

And any private jet golfing user who wants to play Turnberry would land at Prestwick anyway, whether there was any partnership or not... wouldn't they?

I can see how DT is better off, but how is the Scottish tax payer any better off for this partnership? Turnberry and Prestwick airport were there last week too.

A Belfast - Ardrossan ferry?! Since when?
