Hi
Last few weeks there has been an AN-26 flying LPL-PAD. Anyone know what it's for? |
Urgent car parts, a Jota 146 has been doing the same. Stocking up for possible supply disruption.
Second time this week my breakfast cup of tea has been rattled by the sound of a heavy turboprop ( badly out of sync :hmm: ) passing over my house. FR24 reveals it is the RAF-Avia AN26 Yl-RAD. It's a pretty distinctive sound..........
PS I live on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border and it was at FL180 - yikes! How loud is that thing  |
It’s the AN 26. I live on the Greater Manchester/Derbyshire border and it is pretty loud. |

If you're going to stock parts ahead of 29th March then the volumes involved, and the time currently left before "B-Day", make trucking them the most efficient / cheapest option, and since the motor industry is run by bean counters they won't be spending money needlessly on logistics. |
Blue Islands are going to starting an ATR72 service GCI-LPL-GCI from 21 May to 14 Sep Tues and Sat
There was a Vulcan Air An-26 in on the 12th as well according to Wynne Aviation Services Twitter feed. You will also see the number of car related flights recently.handled by the company.

From media reports, it appears Blue Air's decision to close its operation at LPL is down to the uncertainty caused by Brexit and the difficulty of operating from the UK to Europe after March unless they have a UK registered operators licence. As LPL is their only UK base, that would, no doubt, be uneconomic for a one plane operation.
Also mentioned Blue Air LTN-Turin...
I believe the Eastern European flights will still run, but sad to see their based aircraft go.
New airline and new destination
laudamotion vienna to liverpool 2pw begins oct 2019 |
Thats good news for Liverpool, after Blue Air finished their non Eastern European routes.
Any truth to the rumour that both DSA and LPL have been put up for sale today??

The news rail link from Chester / North Wales into Liverpool Lime Street is beginning to be promoted by Transport for Wales. The service will benefit passengers travelling to Liverpool Airport by was of calling at Liverpool South Parkway where an airport bus link is provided.

So, Liverpool will be away first weekend of the season? I predict it will run until at least May 2019! :ok:
LPL-JER with Easyjet now bookable for winter season .
Very busy period for LPL coming up soon with many LPL-MAD flights 31 May ,1,2 June. Big variety of aircraft inc Ethiopian Airlines 787, Corseair 747, several A330/340s or Iberia some 767s plus usual A320 size aircraft, Older MD80 will be operating too
I saw Ethiopian is opertaing ex MAN along with a South African Airways A340-600 ?
Looks like Vueling are basing 3 a/c at LPL for those days, operating all day long shuttles between LPL and MAD. IBE have many flights to as you mention, including several heavies. |
I believe the Ethiopian is the Man schedule flight which will do a standard turnround to Madrid and return in time for evening departure and yes South African is coming to Manchester
I understand the Liverpool departing Ethiopian 787 is a Paris aircraft, which I think was the same for the Kiev flights.
I'm amazed IB have so much spare capacity with what it planned for Liverpool & London, but they have been planning for this for at least 2 years now!
I hope I can pop down to the airport over at least one of the days to see some of the activity.
On a different note, I have noticed Wizzair have used the A321 quite often of late.
Very busy weekend coming up for Liverpool with numerous Madrid flights, quite a few heavies operating including Virgin , Ethiopian, Iberia, Air Austral and Corse Air (747).
Virgin A330, Corse Air 747, Ethiopian 787 all departing LPL-MAD today around mid day, amongst other departures all day. Vueling have A320/21 based over the period.
The same in BRS with the A321 used more than the A320. Has Wizzair pax numbers grown or have they some A320 out of service.

Also in the old days it’d be charters or nothing. Now you have options. You can just jump on Ryanair to Gdansk or Naples or wherever they go then take another easyjet or Ryanair or Wizz to Madrid or somewhere else in Spain. |
The best ever was incoming traffic with the final at OT in 2003 - what a day that was. Lets hope Liverpool or Manchester can host the final again soon...and good luck Liverpool tonight :)

Today saw 23x commercial departures to Madrid, along with 5x biz-jets Charter
Manchester also saw a scheduled RYR departure plus an Enter Air B738 and an Iberia A332 charter to MAD |

The Austral is the highlight nothing else really that exciting other than the Iberia A330 and maybe the Corseair B747 even though over years
have been to most british airports that can handle B747 |
Were all these viewable from the Spectators Balcony? :ok:
Maybe Navpi was hoping for Sterling Caravelles and Spantax Coronado's!! Very impressive operation me thinks.
