I know several who are delaying booking European flights until there is more certainty about BREXIT - perhaps winter bookings show that and are reflected in the summer advanced offering

Captain_Caveman 21st Sep 2018 10:47

We had our busiest ever day of seat sales yesterday so I don’t think people being worried about brexit is a reason for not booking.

daz211 21st Sep 2018 11:05

Our bookings are up at my airline (not easyjet) on this time last year also and We have added extra aircraft to some of our bases to meet demand I really can’t see all aircraft grounded at uk and European airports on day one of Brexit it’s a farcical thought.

SWBKCB 21st Sep 2018 11:13

The simple fact is though, that until some agreement is reached that is what will happen to flights between the UK and the EU. There will be no legal framework for them to operate. There's a lot to be done in a short time.

West Brit 21st Sep 2018 11:22

If no deal, then the EU will trade with UK under the terms of the WTO rules.

SWBKCB 21st Sep 2018 11:30

Yes, but WTO does cover the regulation of air transport

inOban 21st Sep 2018 11:31

There are still far too many people who believe It Will Be All Right On The Night. They are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Lon12 21st Sep 2018 11:44

Do anyone know where are the 12 new routes from Nantes?

daz211 21st Sep 2018 11:47

Please don’t make this into a political battle field, The EU and the UK won’t stop flights it would be to damaging for both parties, What next No European reg aircraft allowed to fly into British airspace and we can’t fly other their’s.

lfc84 21st Sep 2018 12:55

i just made a reservation and noticed my domestic UK flight are EZY and my UK-EU are EJU
ie. i think its a different legal entity

easyflyer83 21st Sep 2018 13:32

easyJet is now an airline group. easyJet UK, easyJet Europe, easyJet Switzerland

I think this is actually what is being suggested by Ian Duncan Smith. If the EU don't agree to a deal IDS appears to be saying that the UK has the power to stop all intercontinental flights between the EU and North America because they must travel through UK airspace which he would block. Mmmmm.....😂
https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/992934/Brexit-news-Iain-Duncan-Smith-travel-chaos-flight-UK-EU-withdrawal-CAA

Seriously though, I would guess that there will need to be some formal regulatory agreement to enable UK registered aircraft to fly in EU airspace. I think it's unlikely that this won't happen but the PM keeps saying that "no deal is better than a bad deal". I think that is why so many 'UK based' airlines are setting up EU subsidiaries any may eventually become EU member owned.

No guessing needed - it has to happen. There's a long "to do" list!

Thats good news. The EU is booming economically at the moment and UK is still in the EU of course so I would expect good growth. I believe a lot of traffic for the LCCs comes from EU national students/workers. If the UK were to impose visa requirements and red tape preventing them working/studying in the UK I could see that market drying up quickly.

jdcg 22nd Sep 2018 06:49

Purely anecdotally, with our work in London my wife and I meet lots of EU people (excl UK), and every single one has been mentally preparing a Plan B should it all go wrong. There's already lots of movement as these plans are concocted I think. Every single one of these are white collar employees / self employed etc. The blue collar workers, about whom everyone seems most antagonistic, are ironically the ones most determined to stay on. I've no idea if planes will stop flying during this "s**tstorm". But the amount of distress to people's lives is already hideous

DomyDom 22nd Sep 2018 12:35

Brexit

My gut feel on Brexit based on experience so far is that May and her ministers will talk tough until the last moment and then cave in to whatever the EU want. The EU have been clear all along it is either Norway (going along with EU rules, regs and paying in) or Canada (with NI split off). Its Tory conference week after next so don't expect any sense for now but I think the politics points to the Norway model in which case it will be business as usual.

SWBKCB 22nd Sep 2018 13:26

We seemed to have strayed from easyJet and into Jet Blast territory.

Welshtraveller 23rd Sep 2018 08:43

When are Easyjet flights released for mid Sept 2019? No date on the website at the moment.

If the date is unknown when were the flights released last year?

Thanks all.

Probably December I'd have thought.

When they release the batch on Thursday they will indicate when next release will be.

Interview with MOL in German
Interview - "Viele Airlines werden den Winter nicht überleben" - airliners.de

"... oder eben an Easyjet, die sich aus Porto zurückzieht."

Meaning EZY will reduce or close its Porto base this winter? After years of expanding this base sounds surprsising for me.
Can anyone confirm this?

Beside this he predicts Norwegian won't survive this winter with oil at 85 Dollars.

He's a well-respected source of hot air and personal expectations .... but I wouldn't bet on what he proposes coming to fruition ....

He accurately predicted the demise of Monarch, despite furious protestations by the then CEO

Easyjet is struggling for some time to hire piltos for its portuguese bases. I think they will reduce the number of planes based in Porto but will keep or even increase the operation just changing the plane base. As an example, with the opening of Nantes base, the daily flight between Porto and Nantes will be operated by a Nantes based aircraft.

shamrock7seal 22nd Oct 2018 09:48

Given Flybe wobbles and threats to cut further the network, could there be any likelihood of a Southampton base for UK domestic routes? It's only 65 miles or so from LHR

Robert-Ryan 22nd Oct 2018 21:37

I'm sure this will have been asked at some point apologies for a repeat question, but what does the X mean on easyJets A321neo's? E.g. "Airbus A321-251NX", I thought it was to differentiate the long range variant but easyJet operate the regular variant.

The NX is for the new door configuration on the A321neo.

New(ish) A320-251Ns
EasyJet still appear to be having problems with their NEOs. Yesterday (24th) G-UZHN (the newest) positioned LGW-SXF for attention - presumably by Lufthansa. Today G-UZHM has gone u/s at Pafos. The return to LGW has been delayed overnight. I wonder if it's rudder problems (which G-UZHI had in the summer) or something else?

Plane.Silly 13th Nov 2018 07:30

Looks Like Easyjet are ramping up their holidays division.
Yesterday revealed the former TUI MD Garry Wilson is joining as CEO of Easyjet Holidays.
Last moth they also nabbed jet's head of E-commerce, so things are getting pretty serious now.

Does this potentially mean more of the future growth will be in the classic bucket and spade routes? or would there be a focus on city break offerings?

Also does it mean we might see them operating seasonally into some of the smaller airports with non based aircraft similar to how Ryanair and TUI do?

Seljuk22 13th Nov 2018 17:05

EZY has now 25 aircraft based at TXL and celebrates 5 million passengers since Jan 5th.

Airbus introduced the new Flexi cabin on the A321 Neo which means extra door and some internal changes to the cabin to make it now a 220 seater
there is room for 240 again depending on doors
It all depends on the airline and what total they want
The 220 seater enables removing over wing exits and standard 4 doors each side
Hope that is of use

There no LR at the moment except the first for Arkia being delivered
and we wating to see what added on that to identify this version

easyJet holiday to start in 2019
Emirates will join worldwide by easyjet at LGW

Having a Flick through the media presentation, if they actually deliver everything they say they will on time, then come 2020, they'll be in a very strong position. Should provide an interesting watch over the next year or 2

shamrock7seal 22nd Nov 2018 07:44

The up-gauging of aircraft from 320 to 321 will also provide real long-term growth on existing route network including a reduction in cost per seat.
