All very predictable, there will be some delay and the plans will be tweaked. There’s nothing new or unexpected here. Btw there’s a ‘t’ in East Anglia which, if you lived there and not Greater Manchester, you’d have noticed bagso, er I mean navpi. |
Heathrow are now offering an additional 25,000 ATM (not cash machines) by introducing Independent Parallel Approaches (IPA - not beer) before R3, and maybe for R3 as well.
These approaches using PBN will swing in at 8 miles on the final approach path creating new areas of noise and obviously a more sporty approach for passengers. Awaiting incoming spelling and grammar check. |

Works out at approximately two extra landings and takeoffs/hour. How are the slots allocated, is it the usual 50% for incumbents and 50% for new carriers? |

says that the IPA designs will join the approach path less than 8 nm from touchdown and that the designs will be superseded by the airspace flightpaths for a 3 runway airport. |

The increased capacity was going to be accompanied by a 6½ hour night flight ban, but I haven't seen any mention of that as part of the recent proposal. The concern among community groups, as I understand it, is that in order to keep traffic landing on the departure runway clear of ATC-vectored traffic heading for the arrival runway for as long as possible, the former will follow fixed RNAV routings that will overfly areas that don't currently get arriving traffic overhead. In addition, because they are RNAV routes, they will be flown more consistently (to RNP 0.15) so that the effect will be to concentrate traffic over the same path on the ground (similar to the effect noted in recent RNAV departure trials) rather than in the wider, less concentrated swathe that ATC-vectored inbounds (or outbounds on a SID/NPR) fly. |
John McDonnell has called for direct action against Heathrow expansion if democratic & legal processes fail.

John McDonnell has called for direct action against Heathrow expansion if democratic & legal processes fail. A recent survey (Jul 2018) shows that 54% of his constituency (Hayes and Harlington, much of which is on the airport) support expansion with 9% against. Isn't this taking "out of touch" to a whole new level? |
Part of a national agenda concerning "emissions".

Isn't this taking "out of touch" to a whole new level? Strongly support expansion: 28% Somewhat support expansion: 22% Neutral: 18% Somewhat oppose expansion: 7% Strongly oppose expansion: 24% Don't know: 1% Populus poll on behalf of Heathrow |
Heathrow fined by ICO for data breach
The media, including BBT (link below) and the BBC, are reporting that LHR has been fined £120,000 by the ICO after an employee lost a USB drive, which was subsequently found by a member of the public.
The ICO confirmed that among the files on the stick were details of up to 50 HAL aviation security personnel, but would not comment on reports that it also contained "national security details such as a timetable of patrols that was used to guard the airport against terror attacks and the exact route the Queen took when using the airport". Heathrow said that, following the breach, changes had been made including a company-wide information security training programme. Heathrow fined for lost USB stick data breach |

Obviously LHR makes the most sense, but surprised by the omission of the Middle east Hubs, or even IST, since Turkish Airlines serves the most countries
