Thomas Cook
Are Thomas Cook basing two aircraft at Stansted this summer? If so, both Smart Lynx? |
Smart Lynx - do they have anything to do with SmartWings/Travel service and Sunwing?
|
Compared with an earlier edition of TCX short haul Summer`19 for STN the programme is now showing a healthy similar comparison to Summer`18.
Peak Summer`19 is now 34 departures pw over 15 destinations. The 2nd Smart Lynx lease in for STN commenced 25.5 last year with the A320. Definitely the 2nd a/c required but early days yet with source perhaps but very likely Smart Lynx would be assumed. Since the TCX winter break at STN their radio callsign has changed to "Thomas Cook" from "Kestrel". |

UPS Flights
Looks like UPS have added an extra flight to Stansted. Comes in from CGN via CDG as UPS218. Unsure if this is a temporary or permanent flight to their schedule. But a nice addition to the cargo volume levels anyway. with this flight it means we currently have three UPS aircraft day stopping x1 B757 and x2 B767’s. The B757 does position out to WAW at 1630. |
The UPS B757 has operated for at least three seasons though but during the winter schedule the timings differ completely with the a/c departing to WAW in the early hours.
As you point out the a/c day stops with the summer schedules. Why the wide variation between summer & winter cargo who can say.Nice to see even so. EZY has commenced STN/CDG Days1.4.5.7 with 31,000 customers predicted thru to end of Summer. |
Pegasus Airlines
Pegaus Airlines have also added an increase to their Istanbul SAW route. Now we have four scheduled flights a day, up from three scheduled in the winter. Great to see another increase. PC1169 SAW 0925-1130 STN PC1161 SAW 1205-1410 STN PC1165 SAW 1355-1600 STN PC1173 SAW 2055-2300 STN PC1170 STN 1210-1755 SAW PC1162 STN 1450-2030 SAW PC1166 STN 1640-2225 SAW PC1174 STN 0010-0555 SAW |
Not forgetting their Izmir/ADB service with up to 4 pw in Summer.
Pegasus say they have carried 2.7m pax on their STN schedules since commencement. |
Weatherspoon`s opened their brand new £1.3m/3,650 sq m "Runway Bar" today on a new mezzanine level with seating for 200 customers.
As the name implies the new Bar has a 30m long window with views over airfield ops. Weatherspoon`s say the existing Windmill Pub already serves 1.2m customers per year. |
EXS...Possibly slipped through the STN net.
New for Summer 2020. STN-Zadar Commence 24.5.20 at 2pw Days 3.7 STN-Preveza Commence 10.5.20 |
A321 -POWU commenced ops for EXS at Stansted on 1.4.19 & has acquired red Jet2 titling over the white scheme.
Atlas Global/KKK use the A330 today on their daily IST as predicted. |
Inaugural SAS 519/520 from & to CPH flew today operated by A320,original announcement specifying A319.

March `19 numbers for STN.
First March on record with over 2m passengers for a total of 2,108,749 + 6.1% Rolling 12 months 28,396,165 + 8.6% STN yet again the busiest MAG airport in the month just edging MAN this time. Cargo this month although down again following a worldwide trend was just -2.5% |
STN just edging MAN this time. |
Lol...The parents at least are in a committed relationship so all in the family...oh that probably reads worse !!..
|
I’m all for a bit of edging, won’t be long before STN is on top of MAN, Would be nice to have a share of the Long haul. |
Stansted is at the present time now just 180,754 pax behind MAN in respect of the rolling 12 month totals.
MAN in previous Summer seasons has been the busier so time will tell. Concur with Long Haul...The B word will not be helping. |
Long Haul positive...
Due consideration must be given to the fact that STN of course operates the largest long haul all cargo network in the UK. |
Delighted STN is about to top Man however this is only happening because MAN is artificially constrained due stand capacity. RYR would have put 5 units into MAN this year but for whatever reason they were deployed elsewhere. A big miss..

JetBlue to London in 2021...
It is obvious that MAG will have pitched extremely well to JBU regarding STN & that they can be perfect partners over BOS/JFK. JBU have used the cleverest strategy gaming not only the LON airports but their rival airlines & the airframer to boot & enhanced their own market value. Case then of wait & see. |
