Yields on the main trunk routes have been deteriorating for some time to the point where connecting yields are becoming quite appealing. (Scott Kirby - American Airlines CEO on a recent earnings call to investor analysts).

BA/BE tie up anyone..?

Was there really a 6 hr delay on BE LHR-EDI the other day?
The business sorts and connecting pax would have wished they stuck with BA

I guess BA never suffer cancellations or tech delays on services between LHR and EDI - except of course when the airport operator and airline decides to cancel services all together at the drop of hat if there is the sniff of a flake of snow, or puff of mildly strong winds?

As usual, :mad: happens - but today people for whatever reason don't appreciate that inevitable fact of life.

Is this in the US or the UK? The costs of being the connecting carrier of choice at LHR was the death of BMI as they were liable for the costs of baggage connections, rebookings and all that pain for pennies on the pound of the ticket price. What's changed? Flybe aren't even in an alliance!
Worrying how new CEO lists flybe as flying ATRs and not Saabs as well. The ATRs are Stobart and Blue Islands surely, or are they in "Group Flybe" with Loganair forgotten prematurely?

Just speculation, but maybe BMIs problem was that it was part of an alliance with standard arrangements. Flybe will have negotiated individual arrangements with each of its partner airlines.

Flybe own/operate/lease (etc) 5x ATR72-600 aircraft for an SAS white label operation, with a further 2 orders expected this year... G-FBXA/B ...

You mean yet another serious tech issue , Inflight engines shutdowns are viewed as rather serious by the regulator .
They do seem to occur rather often in flybe land do they not?

I genuinely have no idea. And this is speaking as someone that uses them on a semi regular basis.

Now that you mention it and as you are clearly armed with facts and figures that I am not , perhaps you could tell me the numbers and then compare the numbers to a similar sized alternate airline for comparison ?

Cornishsimon a passenger load of 58 on a dash with 78 seats is not so bad. The break even point for a dash is pretty low.

As to other comments about technical issues they happen. I really don't believe Flybe is any worse or better than others in that respect.

I really have no strong feelings either way but Flybe does seem to come in for a lot of negative comment on here. A few weeks ago a survey showed it to be quite a punctual airline compared to others. However no comment on here! Yet some delays and the old 'Flymaybe' gets trotted out!

I have no real evidence for saying this but sometimes it seems there are a number of ex employees with an axe to grind plus those who cannot seem to forgive the acquisition of British Airways Connect a few years back.

I have flown occasionally with Flybe over the past 10 years or so and everything seems to go ok. Maybe others are just unlucky. Have to say that has been true for most of my flights with nearly all airlines. Maybe I don't have an axe to grind and tend to keep things in perspective when they do go wrong.

What's morale like at the sharp end of the aircraft?

We're living the capitalist dream here. Morale is how you'd expect after years of working longer harder punitive rosters for less and less reward and with fewer resources while watching a merry go round of mediocre management rotate in and out telling us things will be "different this time honest" while stuffing their swag bags with most of any mediocre profit that our efforts generate. Personally, I'm losing interest with the whole gig anyway, so I'll just keep turning up while they're still paying me. Younger guys will move on the second they can. Does that answer your question? :)
