Mr A Tis,

Well I've just looked on Trainline.com and there are over 20 trains a day if you don't mind changing at York. That's no big deal you'll just have time to have one sip of coffee before the next train on the East Coast. £36 one way.

Used it often. Just a shame easy pulled off the Paris route. Hop are charging a fortune!

I was on the 1820 LHR-EDI today and I spotted 1 empty seat.

Mind you, some of the BA flights were fully booked too.

shamrock7seal 9th Apr 2017 01:47

Why are you surprised? It's only 78 seat capacity!

Reversethrustset 9th Apr 2017 10:46

Rivet Joint

I don't see what cornishsimon is doing wrong at all, this is a Flybe thread and like yourself and Flybe Southampton, his interests lies in NQY and Flybe so naturally he'll be passionate about that, you can't knock him for that. It only seems to be yourself who have issues with it.

As for Flybe and the C Series, there's not a cat's chance in hell you'll see one in Flybe colours. For starters the smallest variant is too big for Flybe operations in general. I can't see us operating 3 types, the dash and e175s are here to stay for some time yet. They are new and expensive and to operate them will cost a significant purse, something Flybe doesn't have in abundance.

As for the subsidised bases and flights, my humble opinion is, and note, this is only MY opinion, which in the grand scheme of things means nothing; NQY is performing very well so it'll continue, CWL is performing very well so will continue, EXT and NWI will do inherently well in the summer, the winter is a different story and DSA is, well, the one that I think could be looked at in closer detail. At the end of the day what do I know, that's just my opinion.

GCILover 9th Apr 2017 15:01

There was a Flybe article in airliner world at the beginning of the year that stated they are looking at a fleet replacement, with the decision to be announced in the coming months. It will be interesting to see if they stick to their word

Reversethrustset 9th Apr 2017 15:13

Yes they are "looking" at it, but it means just that, they're looking. It by no means mean it'll happen. The announcement could be "we're not replacing our fleet" or it could be "we're replacing our fleet with C Series, MRJ or Sukhoi SJ". Who knows what it'll be but I'm just about confident enough to say I'll lay my house on it that it won't be the CS, but again, what do I know, I think history will dictate what happens to the dash 8, if anything.

Hearing that the DSA operation will finish after this summer.

Hearing that the DSA operation will finish after this summer

I know this is a rumour network but posting glib statements like this without stating a source or having any evidence to back it up is very disrespectful to and worrying for both Flybe and DSA staff involved in handling the Flybe ops there. Who exactly have you been 'hearing' this from?

How would you like it if someone posted this type of comment on social media about your employer allegedly closing your place of work down?

inOban 10th Apr 2017 09:54

I would have thought that with the marginal economics of Flybe, the last thing they can do is buy brand new a/c. They will always be looking for used, and they will also need to minimise the variety of frames, for training/spares etc.

mockingjay 10th Apr 2017 10:25

The last time flyBE went on a spending spree it brought in the Embraer which was almost brought about the end for flyBE. They should have stuck to what they did best and that was regional UK flying and stuck to their niche.

stewyb 10th Apr 2017 14:04

Agreed and should have stuck with a fleet of Q400's only serving the UK and European regions within 1/1.5 hour flight time max, this is BE's bread and butter and will always be their core market place!

Take no notice of Mystic Meg!

Take no notice GF.

Flybe flights from DSA for this winter (that's the bit after summer!) released. Timmy is obviously hearing voices again:ugh:

I agree with you, it would be really good if just occasionally some posters would think before typing about the consequences of posting stuff like that, especially where it is little more than "spotters rumours" rather than based on any hard fact or substantiated by documentation - which I assume, judging by Teevee's posting, it's not.

BHD2BFS 13th Apr 2017 10:00

I see there is a few dashs operating quite a few routes from CWL. Have they increased the number of based ac there?

No, there are 2x E195's and a Dash 8. The Dash does the LCY and various other flights on occasions such as GLA, some DUB's etc

MARKEYD 13th Apr 2017 12:14

Looks like Flybe are continuing there winter sun flights from Exeter and Norwich to Alicante and Malaga with the EMB 195 operating the route with a quick flight to and from EXT / NWI in between although the Alicante sector hasn't been loaded into the system just yet for Norwich

Chambery looks to have been dropped from Norwich though , loads have been pretty poor on that route

Southampton sees a continuing Alicante flight twice a week albeit on a Dash with no flights loaded as yet to Faro or Malaga

Massively down compared to last winter. More than a 50% reduction.

Make of that what you will.

Wrong thread mate, needs to be on the DSA thread but if you're 'massively down' has the same degree of substance to it as your "DSA operation will finish after this summer" then make of that what YOU will!:ugh:

40 odd flights per week to 20. You do the math.
