I hope it's the same person Spannersatcx that told you CX would not be at MAN until 350's arrived ;) It'd be great to see it daily so soon. Have you access to cargo figures by any chance ?

Improvements to T1 Security.

High tech security lanes in Manchester Airport's Terminal 1 will allow through 1,200 trays an hour - Manchester Evening News

Ian B,

not sure visits by airlines to have a look around equates to a definite new service.

On that conjecture my local (BHX) would be as busy as LHR by now.

LAX-LHR.

Good point.

If I remember JAL used to do 3 flights a day into LHR then 2 then down to one. Point I was making is that IF JAL did reduce from 3 to 1 at LHR due to front end demand and have no idea if thats the case.

Is their enough demand for the same out of MAN..I don't know ?.

I certainly hope there is and that JAL do start from MAN .Great to see Cathay restart as well :)

JAL had three per day out of LHR, 2x NRT and 1 x OSA. They're down to one HND with KIX expected to return on the B787. BA were 2 x NRT and 1 x OSA and now serve one each NRT and HND. Not sure MAN is too high on the list, Japan remains a weakened market.

EZY pu Santorini and Mykanos back on sale for autumn 2015☺

eggc 9th Dec 2014 22:01

Sure I read somewhere MAN has much greater demand to Japan than Boston USA, but Boston gets JAL 787's...so never say never ;)

25T out on the first flt I'm told.

Also what I knew and what I was aloud to say about the pax flt starting are not one and the same, commercial sensitivity etc, and wanting to keep my job come into it!

Ian Brooks 10th Dec 2014 08:13

That sounds quite impressive

Ian Brooks 10th Dec 2014 08:15

New Easyjet route to Kefalonia snuck into the schedules.

2 weekly Tue/Fri.

I have been super critical of airport PR in last few years. Not anymore. Coverage in last few days has been a monumental stepup.

Skynews. Radio4. FT. The Telegraph. DailyExpress.

Sensational stuff.......not sure who is heading this up but it is excellent !

New Easyjet route to Kefalonia snuck into the schedules.

2 weekly Tue/Fri.
Was only looking this morning and didn't see it. Not one of the predicted ones.
Also SPU now in booking engine but no dates/times.

LAX_LHR 10th Dec 2014 09:58

Split wasn't there 20 minutes ago either, and not on the route map. Therefore, a gradual loading of the website is happening, so, still time for Paris and Santiago to be uploaded.

viscount702 10th Dec 2014 10:33

Split

Now Wednesday morning and Saturday afternoon.

That leaves Monday morning for SQC if it happens and CDG on a non based aircraft.

viscount702 10th Dec 2014 10:48

All these new routes are good but it seems the airlines are copying each other
which is worrying.

LS add EFL next year. It was supposed to be one per week but is now two LS have been doing a number of adjustments on the timetable over the last month or so.

EZY adding EFL & SPU although good is adding capacity to well served routes.

SQC will be new and CDG will be welcome to provide competition where LS were clearly unsuccessful probably because of their market.

I've also been impressed with the new @MAGPress on twitter, very active in banging MAG's drum and followed by losts of press. All good stuff.

I wouldn't worry too much about duplication of Mediterranean sunshine routes by scheduled carriers. On forums such as this, we have an overwhelming tendency to focus on changes to scheduled services and often overlook trends in the IT charter space. What we have been seeing over recent years is a substantial shift away from IT charters in favour of scheduled flights. Destinations such as Kefallinia and Split have long been mainstays of MAN's IT portfolio. As patterns within the industry change, capacity to sunshine destinations remains in demand but customers are increasingly likely to find themselves aboard a 'scheduled flight' as opposed to a 'charter flight'. Initiatives such as Jet2Holidays and EasyJet Holidays will continue to drive this trend. The situation is not comparable to the Berlin and Madrid debacles we experienced in the last few years whereby multiple carriers launched services around the same time then hurriedly withdrew again.

Just an appeal to all contributors relating to a regular thorny topic which arose on here again today. Commercial confidentiality.

We are all familiar with situations where our employers require us not to divulge commercially-sensitive information. In such cases, the correct response is (quite rightly) to divulge nothing. We don't want anybody to get into trouble or to place their jobs at risk.

However, if asked a direct question on a commercially-sensitive topic, can we please reply to the effect of: "Sorry. I cannot comment. My employment T&C's prohibit discussion of commercially confidential information." Everyone will understand this. But *please* do not instead intentionally post information which you know to be the opposite of the truth. That is disrespectful to other contributors here and it is wholly unnecessary. 'No comment' is the correct way to go. Deliberately posting misinformation is another matter, and it will undermine a poster's credibility going forward. Thanks for that.

Completely understandable, was just pulling your leg :)

As Shed correctly points out nobody wants anybody to lose their job due to loose lips on here.

On to terminal development...the old control tower office block is to stay for another 10 years, so any major T1 development will either work around it, or be in 10 years ! Obviously will not affect rebuilding of pier B, or extension of T3...if these things are in the pipeline anytime soon.
