Airbus Commander,
What are you about, how an ILS sould be done..... My Arse! You people in your shandy drinking shirt-lifting poofbus (not forgetting the lavender scent) have to slow down to miles before you get anywhere near the ILS. So who is slowing who? How many times have I heard you cant have 22 the poofbus needs 04.... envious of the Airbus..... nahhhhh! Even the Manx 2 has had to slow for the Midland. Now that is taking the p1ss.
250kts to seven miles, bet you cant do that in your uphill gardenerbus.

I'll be sure to wave at Grandad here as we scoot past him in our considerably more shiny and capable 195, while he struggles along in his ageing Renault. You can spot him in the terminal - he's the one with a Tartan shopping trolley instead of a crew bag.

I see that SAS had another Q400 undercarriage collapse today at CPN on an incoming flight from Bergen. These aircraft seem to have real problems.

Is it the airline or aircraft?

The Q400 is operated by a large number of airlines in Europe and USA and it seems SAS are the only ones to have problems (touch wood) so why is this? Is it an issue at SAS rather than with the aircraft??

I wondered the same thing when FlyBe were suffering a spate of in flight returns......jury still out on the aircraft?

Maybe you could define the term "spate" - in your opinion.

Flybe operate between 450 - 500 daily flights. We can say a good 300 odd are on the Q400 as there are quite a few in the fleet.

I do not recall Flybe having this many return from airborne's or emergencies - do you??

The problem that we have with the Q400 is that it is the same problem with the same airline. Had it happen with SAS and then one in, say, South Africa with XXX Airlines we probably would not be any the wiser. I still believe that SAS need to be investigated.......rather than the Q400.

However this is just my opinion and sadly, this does not count for much when there are people who do not look at the wider picture.

Yes. As an ATCO who had at least three turn back on me I would suggest that that was statistically significant. Don't get excited about YOUR airline as I said I was wondering if it was an AIRCRAFT thing. Another point is I have NEVER had a return in flight from ANY other marque.

Please do not use capital letters - this is a forum and therefore debates will arise on occasions, there is really no need to use capital letters and portray such an aggressive response.

We will just have to wait and see what happens no matter how long this will take.

They were within a few weeks of each other. They were all out of BHD and returned. I was the controller on each occassion.Do not lecture me about nettiquette thank you. I was using capitals to emphasise a point. The aircraft had recently been introduced to the fleet and I was curious if this was a feature of the aircraft which had as yet been undiscovered ,I was NOT(there is the emphasis again) implying anything about FlyBe.

As an aside ...what is your experience with the day to day flying/controlling of these aircraft?.Be honest now.

i like Flybe as well, anything wrong in that, could be because they came to Norwich and gave me a much better option than flying from Stansted, but who cares i think they are good from a passenger point of view, 10 times better than ryanair, for ontime etc in my experience.

But FR dont operate out of Norwich so you must have limited experience! Everybody knows how reliable FR are because they are constantly pushing rotations, crew and taxiing times. You can acuse FR of many things but thier puntcuality is one of the best! Just cast your eyes back across the earlier pages for opinions on FlyBe customer service. Its not a can of worms that needs reopenning as it will go on forever more, but needless to say, those who work for Flybe have a loyalty but also a defensive attitude to underlying issues from previous travellers. Its nothing a good Customer Service Manager couldn't sort out within 6 months. Whoever is in the role now needs to buck up thier ideas and get it sorted before they have a tarnished image for good!

Ryanair are certainly better at dropping a route when the airport subsidy runs out - remember HUY-DUB for example?

I still have hopes of Flybe operating meaningful services out of SEN (one day!) and that would be very welcome by the local community.

Still, if you have the answers to all their problems and could sort it out in 6 months no doubt your CV is on its way to Exeter already.

For all I know, Nick was FR's CEO! That said, he is likening BE to FR, both of which I have alot of experience with at different bases. If Nick can make throw away comments on FR, why are you jumping on my back when I am making a judgement on my personal experiences? I actually have worked at different airports where I watch these aircraft turnaround on an hourly basis-not as a customer. I would say therefore that I am in a good position to defend FR would you not?
Regarding working for FlyBe, I spent a few years in EXT workin closely with them. I would not want to work for them thankyou-but atleast you acknowledge that Flybe DO have a problem!

You certainly have a knack for putting your own interpretation on other people's posts.

I don't acknowledge that Flybe have any greater Customer Service problems that do most expanding carriers. Of course they could do better and I don't doubt that they are well aware of that fact.
