its seems to be very short notice, i thought liverpool would have good load factors, do you know if they will replace the routes with anything else?

I know Flybe doesn't have as much capacity and as many flights as EZY but they carried 4x more pax each month.

Where the MANSTON route hasnt had pax over 1,000 for any month it normally sits around 800 ods.

Robin Hood sits around 1,800 per month

The only surprise about Doncaster and Manston is that they weren't cancelled earlier. Liverpool however is a big surprise!

Perhaps this is extra consequences of allowing bmi baby in... And perhaps theyre hoping for a move of pax from lpl and man at bhd and to help ldy as well...

BHD-MSE was only ever going to be a Summer season route AFAIK.

The court ruling last week means that the decision made by the previous Environment Minister, Poots, regarding the seats for sale limit was overturned and the Planning Service will now have to enforce the limit set at the previous agreement. That could be interesting considering the cuts that would be needed in order to comply.

So is this the start of the cuts - the cancellation of the Flybe services? Doesn't bode well for WW european routes surely?

The Flybe cuts are down to their dismal load factor in September bookings and the profit warning issued yesterday.

I doubt that any seat limit will impact into WW ops given the seasonal nature of their med flights, in any event I'm sure BHD will appeal, a seat limit is illogical, its aircraft movements that make noise mind you a heavy 737 will certainly make plenty.

quite right inkjet it wont affect WW at all, do you know how bookings are going for the new european routes? i only ask because you seem to have a good inside on WW,

also is there any airline that would start up a Doncaster service? i can only thing of eastern airlines, but what is the chances of them coming to belfast

also thought by now we would have a new carrier on the cork route, was reading therouteshop.com and shannon airports has belfast as a potential route for them, surely aer arann/ aer lingus regional could fly shannon and cork, with a few weekly rotations to galway, galway seemed to work quite well for flybe

Loads on the WW AMS are very poor !!

The use of a seats for sale limit may be illogical, however it is in the current agreement. The previous ministers decision to remove it was overturned by the court and the planning service were forced to withdraw their application to have the limit raised. The city airport may well appeal to have the limit raised but the agreement cannot be amended without a public enquiry, as the courts have just stated. Between now and then the planning service will have to enforce the current agreement and SfS limits need to be managed at 2 million inward and the same outward per annum.
There will be difficult decisions for the airport in the coming months.

I'm told forward bookings on the new routes are less than 25%, even for the winter 2011.

I would think that 25% would be regarded as a success at this stage, the market is very late booking driven at the moment for all airline, due in no small part to the economic uncertainty that prevails!

My own view is that other than weekend periods AMS will be hard work.

AMS can be a quiet route on Tue, Wed, Thur, hence why EZY is only doing a double on Mon, Fri, Sun which are the most popular days of the week. It will take time before WW manages to get decent loads, however i can remember when tickets first went on sale from BHD to their new routes it was working out a hell of a lot cheaper to fly from BFS... if the prices still have the same difference then that's probably why.

I think you would need to be Mr Spock from the Star Ship Enterprise to make anything Logical from this Planning mess.
Wonder what will happen when the present Minister changes yet again within the next 2 months.

The previous ministers decision to remove it was overturned by the court (Incorrect - the decision to abolish the SFSL was subject to a judicial review instigated by Aldergrove and Belfast City Airport Watch) and the planning service were forced to withdraw their application (Incorrect - the planning service decided not to try to defend their own advice to Minister Poots) to have the limit raised. The city airport may well appeal to have the limit raised (Incorrect - technically at the minute there is no limit) but the agreement cannot be amended without a public enquiry, as the courts have just stated (incorrect - the planning agreement can be amended by various mechanisms and the most likely will be an 'Examination In Public' as was done before. Also I dont think that the courts have stated anything - the current Minister Atwood has made a statement). Between now and then the planning service will have to enforce the current agreement (Also Incorrect and extremely unlikely the PS will try to enforce part of a flawed planning agreement that a minister has already abolished) and SfS limits need to be managed at 2 million inward and the same outward per annum.

Dont know what the planning servive are to do about the various restrictions at the city but they would need to do something about the offsite car parking at Aldergrove which has grown out of control in the last number of years and I see is now happening at the city also.
