Shame Air Transat disappeared, they were pretty reliable, offered a high standard of service and flights seemed pretty full to YYZ. GSm, should they become as unreliable as recently could damage the market of Canada from NCL and indeed the airports delay record, which is one of the best in the country.

As for delays today, there are quite a few, not concentrated on one airline either, MYT, FJE and EZY are all suffering. Not sure why?????

Topjet 12th May 2007 13:41

All handled by servisair, a co-incidence?

crewboi83 12th May 2007 14:10

I was gonna go for fog cos it was pretty nasty this mornin at about 3am!

flyerboy 12th May 2007 14:19

We were told it was a systems failure

transwede 12th May 2007 15:34

Apparantly checkin systems all crashed this morning for both handling agents, causing delays. Not sure how Servisair has only been affected by this, probably actually no relation between them and delays, as they seem to be improving recently.

Is it true Swissport have got EK contract, with Servisair providing cargo handling?

Delta 8 12th May 2007 15:46

Yes its true, Swissport do have the pax handling contract for EK.

crewboi83 12th May 2007 23:36

It was a SITA system crash this morning, apparently MME was effected aswell morning.

GSM!

Delayed almost 4 hours again!! :hmm: not very good start for GSM longer haul routes is it?!

Is the new airbridge in use now? Gate 25? Is servisair allowed the pleasure of operating this one or have they messed that up too?

Not certain but I think events may be a little more complex.... I think the original planned inbound 188 may have been canx due to unavailability of an aircraft at YHM, as yesterdays EDI-YHM went 'pear shaped'. Likely that pax inbound moved onto the 104 YHM-MAN which itself is running a few hours late. Unclear as to how pax will get to NCL & source of the outbound 187......
As you say, not a good start:(

noiseabatement 13th May 2007 10:27

GSM to Hamilton.

Well chaps, as you all predicted the GSM Hamilton flight hasn't got here yet - due 1500hrs. Skyman771's reasoning looks fair, but what a c**k up..:uhoh:

If they get a 1550 departure then you could be in "Private Eyes" in St Catherines ONT by 7pm! ;)

Sorry, just remembering my Air Transat L1011 flight a few years ago...

Heard a good old rumour yesterday - EZY sent up 2 additional aircraft from Luton to cover those delays - any firm news on that one???

NCL1 13th May 2007 11:29

Air Transat were much better and reliable! Early days yet so hopefully they will sort themselves out!!

FJE - SSH delayed one hour again, anyone know why?

crewboi83 13th May 2007 12:05

Well i dont think extra units were sent up to help out
g-ezjt
g-ezkb
g-ezjc
g-ezjk
g-ezjw
g-ezjs
g-ezke

they were the based 73Gs in NCL on the 12th... which is only 7!

10 DME ARC 13th May 2007 12:20

EZY did have an extra two a/c yesterday EZY8001 & 8002 2x B737's arrived from Luton late morning to help out, posn'ed out as 8003/4 late evening!!

noiseabatement 13th May 2007 13:06

EZY...

Well, that is my faith totally restored in the rumour network regarding the extra EZY aircraft!! :D

Was one of our based "number gricers" mentioned it...

Yeh, Air Transat were certainly on the ball so to speak - did that hop to Toronto 5 times and not a minutes delay experienced. But fair play to GSM, like it has been said it's early days and things no doubt will settle down.

I also noticed the Flybe Embraer arrive today - c/s Jersey 145, are these superb aircraft rostered into EGNT on a regular basis???

Marra123 13th May 2007 16:15

Yesterday was a 'total systems failure' easyjet were worst of due to the fact of the amount of flights they have. All check ins were manuel so that was writing boarding cards out and ticking names off on paper.

Reason for most of the delays were due to the fact that with easyjet they can check in all flights at one desk when using computers but when manuel they can only have two desks per flight, so in the morning rush whens there six or seven flights checking in at same time they would have needed upto 14 desks!

There was 6 baggage i.d's due to incorrect bag and pax figures, so all bags had to be lined up on the soaking wet tarmac and each pax had to get of a/c and identify there baggage.

Is the new airbridge in use now
Yes, it is now operational, has been for a while now.

NCL-06 13th May 2007 18:01

which airlines are mainly using the new airbridge?

Delta 8 13th May 2007 18:55

The ones parking on stand 9.... Mainly the charters and jet 2 that i've noticed.

ringleader 13th May 2007 19:29

System failure

Ok, the sita system did crash, but if check in agents are prepared, delays should be minimised. baggage i.d.'s shouldnt need to happen.

Maybe if the handling companies had their staff practice manual check-in saturdays problems would not ahve been so bad.
