Ex-Newcastle Airport chief in £6m court fight - ChronicleLive

looks like JP is getting a day in court! Interesting to see what the outcome will be

Jet 2 confirms Cork for summer 09 but only twice weekly....Fri and Sun, well down on this year.

sunshine79 3rd Oct 2008 08:46

I noticed a flight BST501/2 on the boards to/from DLM this morning. I found out that it is Bestair, are they operating a one off flight today or has it replaced someone else for the rest of the season?

Robert William 3rd Oct 2008 09:53

This flight did not op and i dont believe it will be operating next week either!

Jamesair 3rd Oct 2008 17:09

Looks like we could be getting some news on Jet 2 soon

NCL1 5th Oct 2008 12:19

... they going too?! ;)

BE ex LGW

I see BE have added a fourth rotation on the LGW route which is great news for NCL pax.

However was very suprised to see it is a flight leaving NCL 1 hour after the early LGW service.

Surely it would have made more sense to have a earlier flight out of LGW say leaving around 07:00 and landing in NCL at 08:30 ish. Then they could add a 9am flight ex NCL to LGW or even leave the aircraft in NCL operting flights to other destanations ex NCL and return the aircraft to LGW leaving around 20:00. This schedule would be very appealing to business travellers looking to travel to NCL for a day on business.

What do you think?

Waveman 5th Oct 2008 20:05

I think it's a slot problem at LGW. Flybe doing best they can with what they were given.
I don't think much of the NCL-EXT timings though and loss of the 2nd flight on Mon & Fri.

So NCL is also suffering a bit on route reduction with EZY, from early January as is BFS. With Prague/Krakow suspended - hopefully they will return for summer.

transwede 6th Oct 2008 10:07

Has PRG been stopped for the winter? I must say I am quite shocked by that. It was one of EZY's early routes from NCL and proved very popular all year round, with mini breaks, stag & hen do's etc. I would imagine a popular route like that will continue at some point. Maybe one of the eastern european loco's will pick it up???

When are the summer schedules for EZY released, the usual early December?

Jamesair 7th Oct 2008 11:12

FLYBE have started to release Summer 09 details, so far the only one that concerns NCL is the GTW route which is confirmed at 4 x daily M - F, 1 Sa and 2 Sun. Timings seem to be better spaced out:

Mon - Fri Dep NCL 0625 Arr NCL 0955
" " 1020 " " 1350
" " 1405 " " 1730
" " 1755 " " 2120

Sa Dep NCL 0625 Arr NCL 0955

Su Dep NCL 0810 Arr NCL 1135
" " 1755 " " 2120

The EZY flights have been on sale from early Nov for the Summer, for the last 2 years

sunshine79 7th Oct 2008 18:35

I've just been onto the NCL website and it's had a revamp over the past couple of hours. I must admit, it looks good.

ash666 7th Oct 2008 18:40

just had a look. Better than before but what's with the EZY cancellations today?

maxtoon 7th Oct 2008 19:00

On the subject of the new NCL website I have to agree. It's much improved and looks very smart indeed.

IainB 8th Oct 2008 11:23

Well done NCL

Went out on hols on 15/9 and returned on 29th, no probs either way.

Passport control well staffed on return and no delays on baggage reclaim. Looks like a step up in performance over last year, or perhaps our flights just conicided with some really good times. Whatever, well done all.

:D

Travelled through the airport twice in the past month and was very surpised to see how busy it was both times with holidaymakers - so much for the credit crunch but good to see nevertheless.

On my last trip and several other trips throughout this summer the canteen area between Burger King and JD Sports has been an absolute disgrace with tables piled high with leftover food etc. Not a cleaner to be seen. On one early morning check-in the tables had not been cleared from the night before. Really sets a poor impression to visiting pax. Looks like NCL are also trying to squeeze every last penny out of punters by replacing seating areas with more shops - try finding a seat in he main terminal at busy times now - virtually impossible.

ash666 8th Oct 2008 21:11

weren't Greggs run out of the airport by the other food outlets as people were buying the cheap pasties etc instead of the overpriced food in the cafes?

Ops Guy 8th Oct 2008 22:31

Errrr No := Greggs was still there last week when I was diverted in by the smell of a stake bake :E.

On a more positive note for NCL, with the withdrawl of various airlines from DTV at least it means more passengers hopefully travelling North to us during these challenging times. :{
