Shame as you'd be quicker driving......

FHA 15th Jun 2007 08:17

Lplsprog: they're only anticipating your car being sat cold in the car park for a bit longer than you planned.
MUFC fan: I thought they flew business class too. Having paid this for my family, we found ourselves in a 737-800, economy class, for 10 hours instead. Their attitude? Tough! We got you home didn't we? Never mind that I could have bought econ tickets for 75% less! Best bit was, they phoned ahead to tell the premium lounge staff not to let their own business class passengers in! :=
Honestly folks, you don't know the half of it with this mob.

GLA-AGP yesterday .Looks like they had another major delay yesterday .Spoke to some poor folk in the airport with a baby at eleven last night who said they had been there since lunchtime !

JFK -LPL is 4 hours down, due now at 11.40.

Think aircraft positions to GLA after that for 09.30 departue to SFB.

GSM SCOT 16th Jun 2007 08:36

737-800 @lpl

The 737-800 that is operating at LPL does not position to GLA. This aircraft (G-SAAW) will stay in LPL to operate the LPL-JFK-LPL route.

The GLA-SFB-GLA route is operated by a 767-300 aircraft.

The 737-800 operated the outbound leg but the inbound is said to be a 757-200 aircraft.

Lpl Jfk

Incorrect G-SAAW is the aircraft operating this route, the 757 is operating canadian routes with no spare capacity to fit anything alse

Flightrider 16th Jun 2007 16:55

At the risk of asking a silly question, if LPL-JFK is scheduled to be flown by a 737-800 as seems to be the case, why did they paint the tail of one of the 757s with the Liverpool airport logo?

LPL-JFK in a 737-800 must surely be rather tight (on the days where it doesn't go through NOC). [Gatwick-Banjul in an -800 is a struggle.] GLA-BOS in a 737-700 is very do-able as it's a shorter leg and the -700's range performance is better; but an 800 on a longer sector must be a real challenge, particularly westbound.

The 757 has gone tech so the 738 has been used to fly the route.

metalboymike 16th Jun 2007 19:52

So when will the 757 be back in service again? Any word on it?

IB4138 16th Jun 2007 20:10

Not according to GSM SCOTT who from his title appears connected.

There is no 757 available for LPL-JFK from what he says.

ggspn 16th Jun 2007 20:35

GSAAW is operating EJM's flights, as it's still tech in Canada. Delays have been as bad as +24 hours.

I can't imagine how pissed off I'd be to pay for a first class tkt LPL-JFK, only to end up traveling on a 738 with no IFE and 170 other pissed off pax sitting on top of you for 7 hours.

FHA 16th Jun 2007 20:44

Sorry if I've mislead you slightly there. It was SFB to GLA recently where I found myself in a 738. Wasn't a lot of fun for the CC either!
Globespan could be the Excel of the north, if they just stumped up more in certain areas of their operation.

Jet_stream 16th Jun 2007 22:24

Just to put you right the a/c that is tech is TF-FIT not JM.

IB4138 17th Jun 2007 06:45

LPL - JFK is showing as ETD LPL at 16.00 . Thats 3 hours down at the moment.

mightymouse111 17th Jun 2007 17:56

Who is running this airline? MickeyMouse?? This airline seems to get worse.
Is the Operations Director still employed? If so, why?

GW76 17th Jun 2007 19:58

All their problems from the outset would have been solved by sub chartering another aircraft. They are cheapskates and have refused to do so- even from Icelandair who should have aircraft to spare. Passengers wont forget in a hurry.:*

YHM loads

After having flown EDI-YHM last month, on the service that starts at Stansted, I can't help but wondering if GSM axed the Stansted part of these flights that it would help a great deal in terms of punctuality on this route.
I was one of the last to dissembark on arrival home at Edinburgh and there was but a handful of pax left to go to Stansted. Seems such a waste of resources. Would it not make more sense to have Stansted as one of the weekly routes, like EDI, Exeter, Doncaster, etc rather than daily, AS WELL AS deps from these other airports? This W pattern, in my humble opinion, doesn't help the recurrent problems.
Does anyone know if the load factors from Stansted are high enough to justify the W pattern?

tristar500 17th Jun 2007 20:36

GSM have been in decline for a few months now. Great airline and great plan, but too many flights from too many airports with not enough aircraft!

Why not scale back the network, focus on the short-medium haul business and LIMIT the longahul stuff. WHY is there a flight from EDI and a flight from GLA to Sharm El Sheik in the winter timetable? :ugh: Go from one, and use the other aircraft for another route. All the positioning, ferrying and takeoffs/landings between numerous airports.... If something goes wrong (and we all know it can and has) then GSM find themselves spread thinly, getting a bad press and passengers going else where next time they travel.

Come on Mr Darlyrimple. (Great guy, great sense of adventure and great businessman) Dont let this slip away from you. Reorganise the ops department, get people in place to run your company as it should be done.

You set up a really good outfit, but things are not going to last if this nightmare continues.

PS - I have flown with GSM many times and always enjoyed my flight, hence my repeat business. Other passengers may not come back...

StephenM_SMC 17th Jun 2007 22:30

Any reason why there has been a flight operating to Keflavik from Knock (And vice - versa) recently? I cant seem to get much info about its onwards routings. Also I didn't know they were operating an Edinburgh flight through Knock either (GSM735)
