The 5th runway at AMS is practically in Rotterdam, so maybe there is some appeal for MOL?

Theres a report in the Maltese press about a number of new FR routes out of Malta. Airports mentioned include:
PIK BRS DSA MAD Bremen Weeze Venice (I assume Treviso) Trapani |

Does this mean ryanair will base an aircraft at Donny? Or well Malta become a base? Seems odd, for DSA to fly to somewhere that isnt a base. I heard at work that malaga will become a base once the new terminal is open.

NCL - Oslo Torp and Oporto-Beavais are just 2 routes that I can think of that FR operate with a non-based a/c.
On the AGP front, that you be a good move for FR, but surely they can't compete with EZY and ZB on the UK front can they? Almost every airport in the UK has an AGP connection from usually more than one carrier with multi-daily flights. But hey. whoever stopped FR?! |

MUFC_Fan I was just reading the above comment that you made. I dont think that there is anyone Ryanair would need to worry about competing with, however, I would reckon the likes of EZY & ZB would fear a Ryanair arrival in any market. My experience has been however, that when I want to book flights to spain at short notice I can never get a good price while on most non Spain or Portugal (or sun routes) I can. There need to be some real competition on the Spain routes I think. As regards a DSA Malta link, I wouldnt be surprised if Ryanair looked at either airport for a future base. As someone else said FR have a few routes that are not from or to an existing base such as Tampere/Riga Newcastle/Oslo Torp Paris BVA/Porto Paris BVA/Venice Treviso |

AGP
Well Ryanair could do very well on this route, yes many others do the same, but with higher prices. I think we have started to see a change in Ryanair, for example it now flys to alicante and palma, which both have many flights already going to them. Ryanair can take on Sleazyjet, and the Ryanair aircraft has a much higher load factor.
We all know Ryanair is looking to have 5 or so bases in Spain, and AGP is a good move. I can see other so called low cost airlines will have to change or the growth will stop or even go out of business. One thing I would point out is that Ryanairs route STN-ALC is doing very well, infact if you look at the cost, is the most expensive, a good money maker, and i dont see why ryanair will not jump on this and expand the flights to ALC and also AGP. |
I have been looking at the load factors of both airlines over the past 12 months, and it seems EZY are filling their planes up better than FR.
Ryanair may have the biggest fleet, the largest aircraft and carry the most passengers, but one thing EZY has over FR is that it has a more lean business, and can attract more income and better passenger loads than FR. Pax loads: FR: 82% (155 passengers) EZY: 84.3% (132 passengers) Also in the past 12 months (rolling), EZY has made a total revenue of GBP 1,709,000,000. That equates to GBP 49.47 per passenger. Does anybody know the FR total revenue? Cheers. |
I don't have the figures but I don't think Ryanair will worry about EZY if both do AGP. With regards to the load factors I was on about ema to rome.

Ryanair dont worry about any other carrier on a route
all they need/will do is sell the seats at £0.99 until the other airline has gone. Its simple lowest price on new route, bump up prices on another route/s. |
Agreed. It's simple, as they have the lowest costs and potential for massive capacity FR will always win / force existing carriers off routes. Yes they compete foremost on price but they also, generally, go in with good schedules, high frequency so win on that fron too.

This week MOL will be in HHN and BRE to visit new ryanair dedicated terminals.
Probably will be annunced new routes from these base... Any rumors? |
When Ryanair announced the Bremen base they said it would get a third aircraft in September 2007, so maybe they will announce this aircraft's routes soon.
The only rumour I've heard regarding Bremen is a route to Vasteras. |

I have a few cabin crew friends for ryanair and i know two pilots. My problem with ryanair is the lack of staff, the current staff are being pushed to the limit. The pilot i know who works for them often jokes about coming back to work with me at TNT, and would rather work nights again than be pushed so much. I mean my flying hours for the year look so far to be about 560................. |

Cochstedt airport
About the german article, it says: "Von 2008 an sollen Mallorca, Varna und Antalya auf dem Flugplan stehen" (as from 2008 Mallorca, Varna and Antalya are on the program). Non of these cities is a current Ryanair destination. Furthermore, this article does not at all correspond to the statement of MOL that Ryanair will concentrate more on bigger cities/airports...
