According to this article Ryanair plan to launch a route between Santiago de Compostela and AMSTERDAM on September 1st!
Does this mean an Amsterdam base?!
Could it also mean that the aircraft planned to arrive in Charleroi on September 1st will instead go to Amsterdam due to a delay with Charleroi's new terminal?
I would have found the thought of an Amsterdam base fairly improbable except for MOL recently saying that FR are going to have to start flying to bigger airports. And considering that FR fly to Madrid, then why not Amsterdam?
Strange though how FR would agree to expand in the Netherlands given that aviation taxes there are set to sore, but then that's happening in nearly every European country right now.

I cannot see anything that suggests a base at AMS. It only mentions a "route" which is not that unusual as there have been a couple of routes between non-base airports (routes to LBC come to mind). Ine other question is whether the paper has simply made up AMS while Ryanair might simply have mentioned the Netherlands, meaning EIN.

Slot requests
I seem to remember that last year the same newspaper (la voz de galicia) revealed that FR would be starting services from SCQ to PSA and BGY.
It turned out that they were jumping to conclusions on the basis of slot requests and the services have yet to be launched (Slot requests do not necessarily imply that a given airline intends to open a given route).
I think they may have done the same thing again here, and possibly got confused between Amsterdam and Eindhoven.

Fr1010 ? Agp-stn
BAA arrivals board shows flight FR1010 AGP-STN, STA 0740.
This flight has been shown at the same time for the last few days,
as far as I know FR do not opp to/from AGP from STN.
Anyone know whats going on

FR use FR10XX series when they apply for slots. In fact, not a single route operates with such code in all their network (they are changed as soon as they get the slots and decide to operate flights).

has Ryanair given up their policy of blocking the front and back 6 rows when operating in and out of Derry. Last night you could sit anywhere except row 3 & 4. Going over the previous day the rows were blocked as they were when I flew DUB - ORK last week.
Maybe it was just a busy flight and they were able to sneak in more than 149 passengers.
I only ask because it was supposedly a Health and Safety issue that the planes be restricted into Derry as the runway is still too short for the 738's

slots at NCL
does anybody know if FR have kept the slots of the NCL to oslo route?
also about 2 years ago FR were going to do stockholme-NCL-oslo-NCL-stockholme using flight numbers around 1701-1710.
only the oslo ever started using a liverpool based aircraft.
does anybody have any information if the slots are still in at stockholme?

Regarding the post about blocking seats on the LDY flight. FR can only carry 141 pax STN - LDY, not 149. and cannot carry any more. Only 141 boarding cards are printed so it is not possible for Ryanair to 'sneak' more pax on.

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has suggested his airline may start domestic routes in the US - if the US market is opened up in 2010 as part of a second stage open skies agreement with the EU. He told a new service: 'It's eminently possible. Our cost base is much lower than US airlines and our fares are lower.'
As a foreign airline, Ryanair is currently barred from flying US domestic routes. However, the new open skies agreement between Europe and the US should see America open its domestic market to non-US airlines by 2010, leaving the way clear for Ryanair to enter the fray in the world's biggest aviation market.
