[B]Jamie2k9[/B

No far from it.

Wednesday is very light and Monday/Friday had a couple gaps, in fact the only
day where all four are required all day is Sunday.

However what happened last year, some of the three Dublin based
visitors in the afternoon and evening switched to bhx based aircraft.

Pete

Jamie2k9 3rd Feb 2011 10:46

BHX - MPL - bookable. Operates on Mon, Wed and Fri. Evening departure on Mon & Fri. Afternoon on Wed.

BMI Base at BHX

Does anybody at BMI know when the new base is opening at BHX.
Willl it just be the BHX - FRA route the crews will be operating on.

Cheers

S78 3rd Feb 2011 15:46

Why the fuss about a new RYR route?

They'll run it until the discounted fees end and then they'll drop it like the proverbial hot potato.

I fail to understand why BHX thinks getting into bed with RYR is a good idea.

mickyman 3rd Feb 2011 16:18

Quite right S78 You know the Ryanair way.

Birmingham is very busy at all times - who needs Ryanair
passengers to clog up the terminals.

Send them to East midlands thats what I say

Summer 2011

Ryanair

It appears the Wednesday gap filler in summer will be Tenerife and
not Arrecife but still no clue as to the others on Tu/Th/Sat.

Monarch

They have added a second Sunday Malaga and pushed Papfos
back to the afternoon so that is an increase.

Thomas Cook

Shelm on Saturday swapped to Rhodes.

Thomson

The extra Friday Enfidha has gone (no surprise) but Sunday
and Wednesday still on sale.

Koral Blue

Thursday flight not showing in some booking sites but hasn't been
for a while now.

Pegasus

As expected all BHX flights seem to have gone.

AYT loads last year were appalling.

Blue Air

Still bookable on Sundays - the ex Eurocypria IT

TOM BHX Sunday Programme

Anyone know what has happend to the TOM SUN departure to LCA for Summer 2011, am sure they flew to LCA on both Weds and Suns???

OltonPete 7th Feb 2011 09:28

Larnaca

bmiboyz

I can confirm it was never released for Summer 2011 and was at the time
the only real short to medium haul cut-back from 2010 possibly along with
one Ibiza rotation, which has since been restored at the expense of AGA.

Since the first release Agadir has gone and one Enfidha.

The reason for the LCA chop is a mixture of no spare aircraft slot as
Dubrovnik which was on a flybe aircraft is to become in-house and I
presume on the based 73H (if there is one this summer).

Obviously I can't think it is to do with competition as Monarch are
staying three weekly as 2010 and Cyprus Airways are no more.

Not sure if there was over-capacity to LCA but with CY's withdrawal
it looks a little thin next summer. Blue Air is bookable on Sunday, which
is the Eurocypria replacement.

fjencl

Sorry for the late reply, unless anybody else knows different the BMI base
is just one A319 operating three daily Frankfurt every day. One system now
showing it as A320's but could be just the way they show 32series aircraft -
LH still showing A319's.

Monarch/Re-branding?

Monarch

Still adding Easter flights with another Palma and another Larnaca added
on a Saturday. Only four flights in total but it appears to be utilising the
Saturday IT ski season aircraft but I think that makes Larnaca five weekly
for a brief period at least.

Re-branding - Dublin East?

BHX and Ryanair might not be able to agree on extra based aircraft for
flying purposes but there seems to some agreement to make the airport
look busy.

A recent spurt in positioning flights now sees eight based aircraft!!!!

Just a shame only three are operational at any one time.

On a serious point, at least the parking facilities are being used.

Pete

Burpbot 7th Feb 2011 22:17

Birmingham Mail reports that passenger slump may be over.

January figures show: 522562 up 0.2%

Paul Kehoe: "Although the increase was small, it hinted that the market was starting to recover and encouraging news ahead of plans to extend the runway."
Still ongoing then.

January 2011 & FR

Manchester Kurt

Did you know BHX accepted more diversions than it lost in 2010?

No neither did I until I checked the CAA stats.

However it is pointless comparing at present as you need to know the
actual number of cancellations, which the punctuality stats will eventually
show once published.

Although the weather was kind to BHX in January 2011 Aer Lingus was
not as Dublin was operating at only double daily for long periods plus
cancellations to MIR & LXR amongst others.

Having said all that, I was a little shocked at how low the figure was, as
I got the impression that more flights operated in2011 but I have nothing to back that statement up at present.

However I will be checking my usual sources to confirm if that was the case.

Ryanair

As predicted FR have added Wednesday Tenerife with a BHX based
aircraft for summer 2011. All Wednesday slots are now filled just Tuesday
Thursday and Saturday to go, although I have not checked for any other
amendments today. Tenerife now 4 weekly compared to three weekly
since the route started.

BHX operating a319/320 info

I was having a look at the lufthansa booking search engine for flights, they are showing a bmi a319 operating from BHX/FRA route until end of may, then when you book flights in june its an a320, so am not sure whats happening there.

Maybe they havent got a free a320 for bhx until june,

who knows.

Apologies, where I first read the information it states A320 'Family' aircraft.

I believe that A319 G-DBCB will be BHX based as it already has LH interiors. The HAM/DRS routes this A/C currently operates on will return to being LH operated.

A320 G-MIDS is currently undergoing MX in SNN before being refitted with LH interiors for the MAN operation.

ASFKAP.

Transfer from BHX - EMA. can be done by train and bus.
From BHX to Birmingham New Street, change trains for Derby and at Derby catch the airport bus from the station.

On National Express Coach it looks as though it routes via Coventry with 60 mins. waiting at Coventry.

Armavia

Here we go again all bookable from 10/03/2011 in at 09.15 out 11.40
and this time it actually connects both ways with the right destination!!!!

From another forum: -

According to the GDS, Effective 9th March 2011, Armavia will launch 2 weekly flights to ATQ from EVN

U8 319 EVN - ATQ 2030 0235+1 We
U8 319 EVN - ATQ 2130 0335+1 Th

U8 320 ATQ - EVN 0410 0800 Th
U8 320 ATQ - EVN 0510 0900 Fr

Aircraft: A319"

End of quote

So the Thursday out bound from EVN and early morning Thursday inbound
from ATQ connect to the BHX flight.

Lets hope that the necessary rights are in place for this to happen.

Thomson 2011 adjustments & Lufthansa

The Friday Enfidha which was cancelled a few weeks ago has now
been replaced by Ibiza, which is back to four weekly like previous
years (started at two for 2011).

One which bmiboyz might be interested in is the Sunday Larnaca
is back at 16.45 departure.

Now this is the exact same time as Enfidha but that to is still bookable.

Lufthansa

Winter 2011/12 the Dusseldorf is showing three daily Contactair FK100.

Frankfurt showing 2 x 190, 1 x 735 and 1 x 733 and no BMI but I assume
it is waiting to be updated.

Under the proposed deal with Turkish Airlines, which is yet to be approved by the government and regulators, PIA would relinquish some of its lucrative European and U.S. routes.
I thought major reason for the transfer to THY was because the routes were loss making.

Hm, you mean those guys here: Jet makes fiery emergency landing in Germany - Travel - News - msnbc.com . This got big news coverage as one of Germany's leading politicians at the time was on this plane, during the 2009 general election campaign.
Glad to hear the BMI A319 will look just like an LH inside, thanks for that info. Airliners.net has a picture of the old interior, massive improvement from that. So LH is aware they have to respect their brand and product integrity, to keep their nice chunk of the long-haul market from BHX.
I guess no news yet on BE's response for FRA and/or DUS w.r.t. introducing E190 or E175. I think each time I boarded those, I heard mumbling like 'Oh, a turboprop, not so great' esp from the Germans.

They survive because they are high yield business orientated, generally point to point routes (particularly GOT, HAM and STR) where Ryanair economics don't prevail - thank heavens!

Waterford

To be fair Waterford has never been great and I have long predicted
that this is likely to go but it has survived. Although if that January
load factor is correct then it is a worry.

I didn't check many fares in January and certainly not Waterford but
when I have in the past they have been fairly low. However January
and early February is a hard time for most.

The one I am constantly disappointed with is Turkish and that is not
just January but they seem to be in for the long run.

A319 or A320 ???

MAG-BHX

Or you could believe the LH & BD website, which shows the last A319
flight on 6/5/2011 and from then until the end of summer it is down as
the A320.

This has been like this for well over a week but most seem to think that
this will eventually be updated to the A319 throughout the summer.

Winter is still showing 2 x Cityline 190's, 1 x LH 735 and 1 x LH 733!!!!
