Oltonpete,
RIX, BUD and SXF are some of the routes I was thinking of which would be a great coup for BHX. Who operates these routes out of EMA? FR? if so I guess they wouldnt want to disrupt that operation. If Easy do pull out of EMA in october which routes would be left for the pickings? Would FR enlarge their EMA base or start them from BHX? I wonder if any of Wizz's routes from CVT are being looked at from FR. Turkish news again. i'll believe it when I see it land on its inaugural flight. Not sure why the delays at T2 the other day. I would have thought multi arriving flights would cause more disruption as limited baggage reclaim areas. With SN moving over to T1 soon, would KLM, AF and Brit air be encouraged to follow to free up capacity? Taxiway rehabilitation works progressing well. A nice change to have smooth taxiways at BHX. |
T2 Chaos
From the staff that were on, the problem was several hundred pax and only one of four security channels open. FR were a little less than impressed by all accounts as it looked like security had no idea of the numbers that would pass through for their flights. At it's worst the queue went all the way to the FR ticket desk and back as far as World News:*

Is it true that yesterdays EK left dents/grooves in the resurfaced taxiway by stand 41. Heard someone saying but couldn't see for myself

Yep SXF, RIX & BUD are all FR EMA flights and it is understandable that they don't want to duplicate every route. BTS, ALC, AGP, MJV, KTW & GRO are a few that are duplicated but with most of these routes the market is probably big enough. As for WW, if the sun flights are final then they will lay the reason at the feet of fuel rather than FR, as it s not just BHX taking the hit. However I am sure FR will interpret in a different way. If the TK is five a week it is a very adventurous start but I assume they will be after the onward connecting traffic to fill the service up, especially to the Middle East and Asia. I would not want to knock any airline starting BHX ops but if Turkish do start it will be a great coup. Pete |
EK38
No it didn't leave dents and grooves just picked up some wet tar which it left on the concrete until the wheels got covered in dust. The Captain was very pleased to have left his mark on the stand:}

FR may want some revenge on Wizz. I wonder who will win this time???

Fr Prg
In the OLCI.
This one would be off no surprise. There is the plenty of scope in the current FR schedule. My guess is late evening Tu, Th & Sat but could fit Mo & Fr evening at the same time but not Wed. I wonder if baby will go down to four or five per week? Pete |
TK Istanbul
Can anyone confirm this flight will commence ex BHX? I have checked Amadeus and TK website which doesn't even list BHX?
Heres hoping Daza:ok: |
TK
Would be nice to see a different airline start to BHX
Am i right in thinking TK did want to start operations in March 2008 but this failed? |

The route was mentioned in a press release in Turkish only on the TK website and this was dated January 2008. It then appeared on the bhx online timetable at three times a week 738 from the end of March but it soon disappeared. Rumour for the delayed start was awaiting more aircraft deliveries. The more recent rumour stated that local agents have been advised of a 1/10/08 start 5 times a week (looking for onward connections to Asia). However it is believed that it is still not shown in any reservation systems. On an unrelated matter SkyEurope Bratislava is bookable this winter same days and similar times (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun). Onur air/Ryanair/Sas/Pakistan
1. Does anybody know if OHY are upgrading to A300 this year at all?
2. Does anybody know how many FR aircraft will be based as of 26th October 2008, i thought maybe 3 or 4 due to the frequency of the new routes, also are any of the current FR routes stopping for the winter? 3. Are Sas switching the evening service back to 146 anytime soon as they say in the BHX Flight Guide from 1st July, but has this changed? I have also noticed Pakistan are retiming the saturday service from 5th July. Current : Arr 1945 PK791 Dep 22:30 PK792 From 05/07 Arr 1230 PK791 Dep 15:30 PK792 |

1) No idea 2) definitely 4 based if not 26/10 at least the following week. There is one spare slot on Tu, Thu, Sun at 1800 and possibly 1920 onwards after the KUN on a We & Su. 3) The last time I checked amadeus the 146 returns as you have stated and then double daily MD from end of October for the weekdays. Not noticed the PK change, unusual times! Pete |
Thanks for your reply :)

As I'm flying with them next week, can anyone tell me if SN (Brussels Airlines)have moved to T1 yet - or when they intend to. I don't relish having to share the already seriously challenged-for-space T2 (both security & departure lounge) with all the BE and FR pax.
|
Not sure about the SN I assume T2 as its a BEE code share.
But your right I wish they would move Ryan to say Coventry! Pref further! |
I dont think Coventry would cope with the 190,000 seats a month Ryanair will offer from November 2008.
BHX5DME |
190,000 seats a month, isn't that more than Coventry's annual pax figure.......?? ;)
I reckon there is enough demand for a once a day FR CVT-DUB, wouldn't surprise me if it starts at some point (perhaps when the T2 queues start back at the A45) |
Does anyone know why baby are withdrawing the flight from Edinburgh that has a scheduled landing time at BHX of 18.55 ? The flight is regularly near capacity (129 pax on a 737-500 the last time I was on it) and they are killing it for mid-July to mid-Sep which is exactly when Edinburgh gets to be its busiest - not sure where the pax will go as there isn't enough capacity on the flybe alternative.
