What about the fact that the Ryanair piolots are demanding pay rises to the the rates of Aer Lingus. Would this affect this deal as it would make Ryanairs overheds increse quite a bit.:confused:

Like Cesare, I am (was) surprised FR didn't introduce Hahn, Baden Baden, Weeze, Lubeck, Bremen, Pisa, Verona, Treviso, Bergamo, Roma, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Marrakech, Fez, Stansted and many many more!

Of all these destinations, only a couple would compete with Easyjet.

Meanwhile, as the Ryanair Madrid base expands, I think we'll see Iberia undergoing a majour overhaul. At least that's what needs to happen!

Aer Lingus is one of the most sucessfull flag carriers in Europe and is a very well respected brand. If MOL gets control he will destroy it, have no doubt. This will do huge damage to the economy of Ireland and further reduce standards for the travelling public. Perhaps many of the ppruners who care about this or their own airline jobs and conditions should consider buying some EI shares? They are quoted on the Irish and London stock exchanges and I understand can be bought easily anywhere in the E.U. I would think its a superb investment on two fronts for anybody who cares about aviation in Europe. So buy some or get your friends to...

My take on things.

If bid is successful MOL gets his hands on all the cash EI has raised from the IPO. Therefore in reality it’s not costing MOL as much as he would like us to believe. Once he takes control he will run both airlines as separate entities but will in time move the EI short-haul operation to Ryanair. Replace the Airbus’s with 738’s. He will retain the EI brand on long haul and expand it using the low cost model. I bet he will get an excellent price from Boeing on shiny new 777’s (if it hasn’t happened already). In order to make the deal a little sweeter I suspect that he will increase his offer per share to somewhere in the region of €3 plus but not as much as some have stated. Also EI currently owns a lot of property around Dublin Airport. I bet he will sell the lot for a pretty penny.

I bet MOL is in for the long haul (speaking in terms of time on this). As seem from his past he doesn’t waste his energy. Not withstanding the fact that he uses questionable human resources practices (for these I think he is a ****) you have to admire the man for his endeavour. If there is one thing we know about MOL is that he loves himself. I bet he wont rest until Ryanair are not just a dominant European player...but a dominant global player.

I would ask the readers to take a look at the EI website and take a look at the CV’s of the senior management team. Barring one or two exceptions I question whether this team has the “capacity” to manage this airline successfully both now in defending it and if successful over the next couple of years.

Where I come from we use the term “capacity” as a polite means to describe people who are just not up to the job

do the routes Gatwick-shannon, Gatwick-Cork and Gatwick-Knock ring any bells in terms opf Ryanair and Easyjet going head-to-head??RYR don't care who already operates a route. If they want to launch a route, they'll launch that route regardless of whose in their way. If they can knock easyjet off a route, who else is there to stop them?

Looks like the vote happened before last night, as it was confirmed this morning (by the Irish Takeover Panel) that IALPA bought 2.12% of Aer Lingus in the stock market yesterday at €3.04 per share.

I wonder if they'll have a go off DUB-SNN. A morning and evening flight would probably be a winner. At the moment day trips are messy because you're combining different airlines.

I would go along with Consol too if I had any money lying around that I could afford to lose - alas no more. That is in no way nay saying AL, but that is just the golden rule of buying any shares - don't take a punt unless you can afford to lose the lot. It has served me extremely well. AL would, like any investment, be a gamble but a lot better than some I've seen. AL looks good on just about every front you could want:

1. Loyal hardworking staff
2. Extremely valueable set of routes/slots (US and LHR of course)
3. Some real estate too apparently
4. Still a much loved brand name by many.

Now how many of those four boxes could FR tick.....

New Dublin Routes
 

Stockholm and Bremen.

Because FR said in a September press release that they would introduce Stockholm, and when the Bremen base was launched the Bremen airport press release said Ryanair were introducing an Irish destination. (Also there is a gap in the Bremen schedules -2-4-6- in the mornings).

FR also promised increases in frequency from DUB to Malaga, Faro, Berlin and Rome. I wonder will this also be outlined tomorrow.
